Having driven both the 944 and gt3, I actually prefer the way the gt3 handles. These are great cars and handle much better than their layout may have you think. I like the way the gt3 grips out of corners and its very precise turn in. I would rather track a gt3 over a 944 if I had the budget.
Having been in a well driven older 996 GT3 on slicks I have to agree. They are an awesome track car. Perhaps the slicks really helped sell it to me but I was very impressed.

Yeah really...I don't think I've seen anyone drinking Fosters for 30 years!
As for our cars...clearly I have a sickness but I'm not blind to their limitations. I'd love to swap out the trailing arm rear suspension for something from this Century. Well even late last would do, like Duke has.
I can't believe how much squat we got in the car, even with 1500lb rear springs.
The motion ratio works against us even though plenty of good results have been witnessed with our pre WW2 suspension design.
You can sure the squat by turning the boost down!!!
Never seen that one before. Have to imagine that they're suicide doors, yes?
Probably are, I haven't seen that car in person. This is porsche museum, was visited by someone from slovenian bmw forum.. Here's the link to all pictures.

The 996 and 997 rear suspension is more or less identical and the geometry is the same for all versions. Just different installed heights but as the mounting points has to be customized on the car anyway to fit it to a 944 you can get away with a regular C2 setup. Then you just get the Cup rods or aftermarket uniball adjustable ones. And put in a blade sway bar when you're at it and re-work the dampers. Have to fix suitable drive shafts too. It adds up!
The rear suspension is re-worked for the 991 with a 5th suspension link but not sure the reason behind the re-design. Might very well be that the new cars are getting big and heavy (heck the 991 uses 20" wheels!) so we're better off looking at the last iterations of the 996/997.

It's kinda weird actually. We were only running 19psi and that only equated to about 420whp on the hot days we ran. So it wasn't outright power. It may have been exacerbated by the rocker panels but I've not seen or noticed so much squat in a stiffly sprung 944 before.

Thanks Gustaf. I knew it wasn't an 'easy' job having seen the pics of yours....just something else for the bucket list!
