if he put an alternator in place of the PS pump there'd be tons of room for the turbo piping

No way I would have kept that Bosch old school alternator, especially when the Nissan works so much better and takes up half the space.

Yes, the turbo outlet is pointing down and I have welded on a ninety degree bend to it. This points across the top of the alternator and then with a couple of ninety alloy bends, we go down in front of the radiator to the intercooler. All fits in nice and neat, plenty of room really. Air then cross's over to the right hand side, up to the top and back across to the left and out through the normal point, straight to the throttle housing.

Cheers Tim

A short update, things have been going a little slowly. I am still awaiting my flywheel which I have been told should be finish this week. While I've been waiting I have made the exhaust system, a couple of pictures to show what I have done

Tim, great build, keep up the great work and info.

Question for you: the 8v and 16v 944 motors uses slightly different lifters. Unfortunately, INA stopped making replacement lifters for the 8v a few years ago. I've heard there are Cosworth lifters that are a drop-in fit for the 8v 944, but I haven't been able to confirm if that's true and/or which lifters would work. I've seen pictures of a Cosworth lifter that looks like the 944 16v lifter, but not the 8v lifter. I figured you might be uniquely able to figure that out, since you may be one of the only guys around with 944 and Cosworth parts laying about....

Hi, I know the Porsche 16 valve lifter is the same size as a cosworth one, but I have no idea about the 8 valve as I have not seen one. Cheers Tim

Yes Patrick its 3 inch, I wanted to go twin 2.5 inch but as you know there is not much room and it was going to be expensive.

The flywheel is being made by a local company we use and is going to accept twin sprung centred organic plates, which should be nice for road use.

Well at last, I have finally received my flywheel from the machine shop. I have had it made to except a AP twin sprung centred organic clutch. Centre push clutch. Should be driver friendly.

That looks like a lot of machining! should have taken a pic of the large chuck of metal before it was machined.
Was that really made from one large piece of steel? I don't see any join lines or fasteners....
