I have heard of some motors in progress. Any details on these builds?

I can't comment on others done. I do know of a couple others in progress, including a crazy build!!!

So what made blown's 2.85l non interference and refresh's 2.85l interference?

At least I think I remember it being that way

I intend to go down this road fairly soon, I have the base parts already.
2.5 crank with nuked rod bearings for grinding, and a sleeved block needing cleanup.

I anticipate a 4.010" bore (sleeves in the block are about 3/32" thick so not much more room without resleeving) and and 85mm stroke with the parts I have.

Should work out to 2.75-2.8L or so depending how much stroke I can get from this crank.

Dave W has had it done for awhile.

Mine is now a 3.0. 105.5 bore, 86mm stroke. Over 100 passes and around 5000 miles. Now.

Should also see Duke, Eric, and a few others in this thread.

In progress--- 2.9 liter 16v, motor is on the stand and currently looking for a shop to send the crank to.

here are the dimensions:
85.5 N/A block decked to 9.03", steel sleeved and bored to 4.060"
86mm stroke (hopefully)
5.9" mitsubishi rods
ACL race bearings
Stock 16v head and cams, 42cc chambers
.040 cometic gasket
-9.8cc dished pistons, 1.260 pin height

.177" deck
8.4:1 compression
1.74:1 rod ratio
16.68 max rod angle

air will be provided by an HX35 super turbo mated to a .63 T3 hotside, hoping for ~450 rwhp. Motor should be fully non interference. Is mine the only 16v hybrid stroker besides Duke's so far? My build actually started out as just a simple 16v conversion, but at that point it didnt make sense to not add displacement.

Just an update, plans have slightly changed. My stroker build is going to use different pistons, I will most likely be running a 4.040", 1.425 pin height piston, -31cc dishes. With a 9.050" deck, this gives me .032" deck clearance with a .040 gasket. 9.1:1 compression (nominal). These pistons should give much more favorable quench than the previous pistons, I decided after my recent motor explosion that I didnt want to be experimenting with running a massive .18" deck on my next build. This motor should still be non-interference with some machining to the pistons faces, and will be 2.84 liters. I'm shooting for 9.0:1 CR but it will probably be a bit lower after valve relieving.

I have another set of JE pistons picked out also, same compression height and same -31cc dish volume but for a 4.030 bore. Whether I ultimately go with a 4.040 bore or 4.030 sort of depends on how much material is available on the sleeves.
