Refresh951's Hybrid Ultra Stroker Build

Shawn. I see that you had to grind the three spots there. I can't tell from the photo but did you take material off the outside edge of the o-ring groove? Second photo.

Yes, had to take quite a bit off both sides to get it to fit. It was a challenge to leave the material that is shown. The Tial turbine housing when clocked in the normal position makes for a tight fit. The key is to undercut below the mounting surface as shown below:

I had to do some grinding on mine but don't remember if I had to grind close to the top. I know I had to grind lower down.
I think my housing is the GT30. I'm curious about trying the GTX3582R. Hoping with work done already I won't have to grind again. Not happening anytime soon though. M-tune first
Thanks for the reply

What did you use to seal it together with? I used some silicone copper gasket along with the o-rings. I let it sit over a few days then i took it apart because the hot housing needed to be re indexed (took it off to inspect the blades) and it had a nice seal around it. So i cleaned it and applied more.

Also, I was looking at using something like this for the oil feed filter:

I have not done the final assy yet as I wanted to get things clocked perfectly first. Was planning on using Hylamar sealant.

Yep, not sure of the specs of mine but it's a LR one and it seems quite fatter. You can see photos of it in my build thread!

Getting pretty close. Still have a bit to do on turbo water plumbing (waiting on a couple fittings from McMaster). I have got a friend who is a professional welder coming by next Saturday to tig weld my cross-over and down pipe. He was set to come this weekend but I messed up on the crossover pipe cuts and had to order a 90 degree bend . I am trying to get my refurbished wire harness done this weekend.
Picked up a bunch of bling parts (plated) from Josh B today. He gets me every time with this stuff. If all goes well next weekend I will start putting the motor back in.

Very cool. I'm looking forward to your torque curve. I'm counting on big numbers put this buod for you, I've decided to go another route altogether, so you're gonna be the lone 8v hybrid for awhile.

Looking good Shawn. Question, did you consider some of Dave's headers before you put the motor back in or are you looking to get a 'control' reading off this motor and perhaps upgrade from there in the future?
