It will be considerably less expensive to bump your LS1 than to go the LS3 route. However, the LS3 route can make even more power.

Well.... if you duplicate my setup, you know exactly what the power will be (on 91 pump gas... ) which is (or was with my smaller 2.5" dual exhaust and smaller headers) 461RWHP and 400RWTQ.

So, mine is going back together now after an engine rebuild. I'm changing some things to get better air flow through the radiator and decrease underhood temps. I'll post all the details later, but it will have a dual filter intake up front, the radiator is angled forward, and the hood will have a subtle bulge and extraction vents. Bulge is so I don't need spacers for the cross member. Depending on how it turns out, I have a friend who makes body panel molds who could duplicate the bulged hood in FRP or Carbon.

A few underhood in its current state... A lot of small things that need to be taken care of along with a few big ones.
Clutch is not fully disengaging and I believe it's possible the hub was one of the defective ones from Spec that presses up on the pilot bearing. I am offshore right now, shop picked the car up yesterday and is tearing it down to pull the disc out for inspection.
Still dealing with some oil leaks from the AN hoses that need to be addressed. Also need to replace the cooling fan and all associated wiring due to some really poorly done wiring by the place that did the bulk of the work.... Let's just say I'm lucky the engine didn't overheat or catch fire when the 30amp relay melted. Very frustrated with some of the work done by this one place.
Other than these issues I have a little over 250 miles on it so far and it runs pretty good. Only have done half throttle once in 3rd up to 5k due to the cold temps and breaking in the new clutch but it's friggin fast!
Track season opener is fast approaching, hopefully the car is ready to go by then.
