K27/8 Upgrade on 951

The issue you'll run into is that as you approach 300rwhp the stock AFM and fuel system can not cope with the volume of air the K27 is pushing. If you're only going to run low boost, like <15psi you could get away with it. You will definitely want a MAF, FPR and injectors to fully exploit the power the turbo can produce.

I'm running a k27-7006/8 with the stock afm and injectors, running at 3 bar. its got a bit of lag compared to a k26, but I still see 1 bar around 3100 rpm in 4th, and it pulls like a horse. The same compressor in the number 6 hot side would spool even faster and make good torque, but would be limited to around 275 whp, and IMHO the #8 hotside is pointless without the bigger k27 compressor wheel. my car has not been on a dyno but I am sure I am right on the edge or slightly over 300 whp with torque to match, and my car is significantly faster than stock. The k27/8 paired with a good MAF and injectors should be capable of pulling 320-330 whp max.

My Cup/Escort car came w/ a modified K27/6 series turbo on it, running stock AFM and injectors. It was dyno tuned to run 17 psi on 100+ fuel. Dyno'd over 300 hp. It had an adjustable FPR on it, but had previously used a 3.0 bar FPR. It had been raced for years w/ similar turbo setups, including some pro races.

The K27/8 is my favorite turbo for the 951, hands down.
I ran mine with an AFM+ stock injectors, and had chips made by lindsey racing to support 16psi with a 3bar frp.
I would estimate around 315RWHP. Fantastic, and ran reliably for over a year until it was sold.

loved my 27/8- i was running lindsey exhaust, tial 38, 55lb injectors, and initially a MAX951 maf scivision- which started leaning out at about 21psi (359rwhp) - so i went to the Vitesse chip board and MAF which really woke the car up - loads of power up to 23psi with high octane fuel. Awesome on the track, no noticable lag unless you are in a very tight corner and you dont keep the pedal down.

I need to dyno my car. Stock AFM, 55lb injectors, 3 bar FPR, 3" exhaust and a few other bits.....with a K27/6. I would imagine its pushing over 300whp.....pulls hard.

Will we need to get together, Id like to go for a ride in that 951, see what it feels like compared to my K26/8 at 16psi

I was in Essex on Sunday night with the M3.....and my wife wearing her wedding dress! We were doing another photo shoot....caused quite a bit of commotion. haha

I have a k27/6 and I think it sucks, same hp as the 26/8 with less torque, I have to run e85 or race gas with 20+psi to see over 300whp . I should have listened to a couple guys here and either ran a #8 hotside or one of the hybrid t04/kkk setups.

Sorry to hear that Zeff. I'm sure it is still a fun car you have. I have a k27/8 with a MAF tial wg and all the supporting stuff. I would guestimate (I really need a dyno to be honest) when I'm running 110 and 20psi it is over 375-400rwhp. I am thinking though, to run a turbo back 3 or 4in system. And depending on time, funds, and if I can handle the head aches e85.
Any idea on what injectors are best for e85, anyone?

Tony G got I think around 325+ whp with a k27/6, but most likely had a MAF instead of AFM
