No, you misunderstand, he means another LS6.

Did you put your new ABS pump in the location you mentioned - the battery tray? Did you use stock 944 ABS sensors etc? Dumb question I'm sure but some of us have a lot to learn.

Even though my V8 is putting out less rwhp than my SC'ed 968 engine, it is much more fun to drive (torque is great). Pulls like a freight train out of corners

Q,

I have a pair of Boxsters that I am parting out --

I also have a pair of 944 NA ChumpCars --
Brakes are free in the ChumpCar valuation.

What would it take to move the Boxster ABS system
to a 944 that never had ABS?

It would take the correct Boxter ABS pump (one with 2 rows of pins on the electrical connector on the pump), 944 steering knuckes with ABS mounting holes, 944 hubs with ABS trigger rings, 944 control arms with ABS mounting holes, 944 rear stub axles with ABS rings, front and rear ABS sensors, and a correctly modified Boxter wiring harness.

And obviously you'd have to intercept the existing brake lines and run then into and out of the Boxer ABS pump.

Tony, do you have the part number of the Boxster ABS pump you used?

Tony,

I have been considering an E46 system for my car. My understanding is that the stand alone E46 has a superior sampling rate. I also know that a number of teams run that system in Porsche, Mazda and others. I have a clean slate, as we are running all new brake lines on a different route than factory. Example we are running rears in the cockpit through a bias control.

Any thoughts?

I can't speak for the E46 system. Never used it. And I don't know any body that does. I can say that the Porsche pump (a Bosch pump) is good enough to keep setting track records out here. Thus it's got to be pretty damn good.

Couple that with the fact that you can buy a used on on ebay for around $200-$300, and I have a friend that will make a harness for it for $250... makes it very hard to pass up

As far as the factory line routing goes... I'm not sure how much of a difference it's going to make. We're not talking about a long set of lines to begin with.

As far as a bias control... that's how I had my rears plumbed. When I did the ABS, I took the bias control out and used the factory Porsche bias valve just to see how close it would be. So far so good on the 1 track I've tested it out on. It's easy to put back in if I need it again.

Many use E46 M3 ATE made units. It's supposed to be a good system. Only problem is that it's not a standalone unit. Several companies, like Turner Motrosport, make a special wiring harness, which converts this system to standalone.Negative side is very high price tag of this harness. I suppose it was about $2K

Olli,

You are correct, it does require a special harness. The upside is that you can add a motorsport controller in the future (if I could source one cheap enough). Pricing is right on at about $2K all in.

Tony,

I may go your route, I agree that it should do the trick for a lot less $.

Yes.... I think that's it.

Just make sure when you look at the electrical connector that there are only 2 rows of pins, not 3.
