Default Notching the bell housing worth it?

I am changing clutches (again) and would like to hear from those who have notched the bell housing for speed and reference sensors. I'm curious if it makes reassembly easier? I ask because it takes some jockeying to get the bell housing on and in place (with the fork on the throw-out, etc.) so wonder how feasible it really is to install the sensors and bracket before the bell housing, even when the housing is notched? Does it become a Rubix Cube to reassemble that way, or not so bad? Thanks in advance...

YES!!!!!!! Makes life MUCH easier. Plus you can easily gap them with a feeler gauge, rather than by the service manual method.

I feel like it is worth notching, done a couple clutch changes and it was nice not having to remove the S&R sensors

What clutch are you going with?

Though I have never tried to adjust the sensors in situ I can't quite believe how notching the bellhousing could not make life far easier.

I adjusted the sensors with a feeler gauge with the engine out and the sensors did not hit anything as I lowered the engine in the bay.

The ability to gap the sensors with the bell housing off alone is worth it i think, takes all of 5 minutes with a whiz wheel to do. Getting the speed / reference sensors out probably added 2 hours onto my clutch job. Mostly because i have no idea when they were last removed. Probably wouldnt be an issue now, but one last thing that has to come off the car.

Hey Tom how about elaborating on the clutch. I believe you had a Southbend setup in your car? Obviously had an issue, what are you going with now?

+1 - I see no reason not to do it (and I did it).

Ok I guess I will do it. It just seems like there is already a bunch of stuff you have to navigate around to get the bell housing on-- and I was worried getting the sensors into the notch would be just one more thing for the bell housing to hang up on. But if others have slid a notched bell housing over installed sensors while the motor is in the car (right?) then I'll go for it.
