How much progress today? Looking forward to see your motor up and running. That head looks great! What size are the intake valves?

Wauw, nice work Pauly! I'm getting curious about the results now!

And ehm, you said you could do with a better intercooler, is this one too small or what? Last time i checked you've got the RX7 intercooler 18x11x3 core.. I would say that is big enough. Even with the 2.5" piping!

Start building, i want to see some more pictures

I got it running to day. i'll post it all at the bottom.

I am using the 18x11x3 but i'll probably make a custom one later on.

A larger core or larger piping? I'm curious to what most people actually use for intercoolers. I'm going to measure up what i can fit at the stock bumper, hopefully the 18x11x3 will fit as well!

So I put everything back together

Filled it with fluids ect, took the DME relay out and cranked it for a bit until i saw oil pressure rise.

Put the DME relay back in and it wouldn't start. No tach bounce..
Off came the intake and i moved the wires and tapped it a little, I cranked it and it bounced. sweet.

All back on, 2nd time it fired i held it at 2000 rpm for a bit and white smoke. errr noticed the cam tower wasn't tight ( didn't put it on, my truck mechanic friend did and he said he was scared of over tightening it)
Tightened it, no leaks. let it ran for 20 min on 2200 RPM.
Got to the 20 min mark and i noticed the temp got real high. Ehh more problems, the hose to the turbo from the turbo pump blew off. Replaced it.. changed the oil and filter..

Turned it on, set idle because it wouldn't idle. I took it for a drive up and down the block and i saw an oil leak at the bottom. not sure if it was from before or not so i left it and took it for a drive locally.

The temp is higher then normal..

I'll put it on the hoist tomorrow and i'll see where the oil is coming from.

The lifters are making noises, i am using 30W straight oil so i guess thats why. the oil pressure is 2bar idle and 3-4 bar driving.

I need to check for exhaust leaks too.

It was 4 bar idle and max driving with my 20w-60.

I didn't get many pictures but i got one good one. I'll get a proper engine bay shot tomorrow after i clean it.

And i got a video but its crap so i'll get another one tomorrow.

I didn't forget anything, I just put a ****ty new hose which i have no replaced.
It is warm down here, it's probably 27 degree C outside at the moment.

It's running between the first mark and the end mark either on the first mark or just before the middle. Enough to trigger the fans when turning off.

Me too! I'll look at that tomorrow.
My understanding would be because everything is still tight, needing to get warn in, causing more work/load on the engine.

Stupid question but make sure you check the polarity on the fans. They can run the opposite direction if plugged in reverse.
