Varies, depending on how badly corroded your hardware is, how many studs need to be replaced, and how handy you are with a sawsall / plasma torch!

under.. 2 hours
over...days

I have found the headers to be like the clutch.. easier to do with the engine out of the car, as the other way is just a huge pain in the ***...

Hey John!

Yea, thats kind of what I was getting at since most estimates vary wildly. Also I was wondering if they could be pulled with out pulling the motor. And you answered that. Can you? yes. Should you? no! lol

And here is a another source as some have asked:

If you ever have to pull the head, leave on the header. And put it back on before you put the head back on.

OR you can loosen the motor mounts.. or let the crossmember drop down, but they CAN be done without removing the motor.. just not cleanly or easily IMHO..

from now on, if I need to do a clutch or exhaust work.. engine out is the way to go!

Tim, I get the point you're making, but not the smartest statement in terms of marketing there.

I know, I know...it's a context thing.
So when it comes time, I'll be sure to look for LR, FabSpeed or OBX for my exhaust needs.

I've had the chance to meet Tim a few times in real life and I think you may be taking this the wrong way. He’s a class act stand up guy from what I got out of the meetings. I've also seen and held his products in real life. They look almost like art and perform great. I forgot he made 944 stuff till I read this thread.

I actually think changing the header was one of the easier tasks on the 951. 2 hours and more is a good estimate.

I have now been driving with these headers for about 1k miles, and their still good.

I've had mine on for about 2500 miles, have done an autocross, and have driven 550miles straight on them. They are holding up just fine.

how do they look? how is your spool, what WG did you use? on ebay the current ones say they have a 40mm wg flange. also did it come with a crossover? current ebay ones dont list it.

also the ad says 'polish sus304 steel'...are they polished or from Poland?

In my view, it is not a performance part. Its more a replacement for the stock.
I don't feel any difference in performance, but there is snow on the ground here so it is hard to tell.

If you are looking for performance gains look elsewere.
If you have a crack pipe(..), and need a replacement it is ok so far.
