Very well could be. Mine were probably warped from cracking the final time I took them off, so that probably added to my aggravation wrestling them off.

Why? The stock headers have heat shielding. These are just straight pipes. As onlg as there are no flammable fluids soaking the wrap, what would the problem be? Hell if you're not paying enough attention to your car to see soaked heat wrap, you probably need to buy a Camry anyway!

Stock shielding doesn't go up in flames. sometimes its hard to see if you leak and the wrap is absorbing it up. you would be surprised how many ppl on here are oblivious on here. You also need to keep on spraying it so it wont go dry..

Oh yeah. That makes sense. I'm digging around under the hood just about every day. Good point about the folks who don't.

I'm guessing the OBX's would create higher engine bay temps then the stock headers due to the lack of heat shielding. Wrapping them would help the engine bay temps but not sure if the OBX tubing can withstand it.

Just coat it.

All 951 headers crack over time. My plan is to dick around for a few years waiting to order a set of OBX, only to find out the guinea pig has 90K miles without cracks and they are NLA.

Jerk

my only worry is longevity. And the 'free' 3" (if it actualy is 3") downpipe is really tempting.

BTW how does one go about checking for cracks on headers off the car?

I really dont want to re-install cracked ones.

Doug, I'd tape the ports up, then fill from the bottom with water. Your dad probably has 300 rolls of duct tape from some auction!
