Hmmm, build progress...

Well, much to my dismay the car didn't come with 30mm rear torsion bars as I thought it did.
Went to re index the torsion bars to lower the rear ride height (couldn't lower it enough using the eccentrics) and discovered the rear bars were stock.
Doh. 30mm bars on their way now.
This car is like that elementary school game "telephone", what's been passed along from one owner to the next has gotten extremely garbled by the end...

Yeah, at least now I'll now exactly what's been done to the car and the status of all the maintenance.
Hopefully it rips when it's done...

Well, went to visit the car today and try to get the drivers seat (Cobra Suzuka GT) fitted. Car looks good, loads of progress made. Motor is in it, tranny is in it and buttoned up, axles in, turbo in (that thing is huge!) etc.
Mounting the seat, in case you guys have never mounted a race seat before is a huge, fiddly, PITA. That was compounded by the fact that we didn't give ourselves enough time to do it by a long shot and that my 5 year old daughter was with me.
We managed to get the sliders, side plates and side assembled, but couldn't get the assembly bolted to the car. The Suzuka is a fairly wide seat and I think we had the sliders set all the way forward, as the inside leg bolster was hitting the center console. The shop will have to play a bit with that to get the seat mounted.
They're also going to have some fun getting the seat where I need it to be, as I'm a total mutant dimensionally. I've got the torso of someone 6'4"+, the arms of someone 6'6" and short, stumpy legs with a 30" inseam. So I need the seat as low as possible, yet fairly close to the steering wheel.
Hope to get the car done this week and smog tested so I can get plates on it and then get it over to the cage builder...

Build update...
Car is at the cage builders, rollbar is almost done. We had to mount the drivers seat directly to the floor of the car. With the sliders I barely had enough headroom with my helmet on. I'm mounting the passenger seat with sliders.
Course this meant going to a quick release hub for the steering wheel so I could get out of the car.
Once the rollbar is done, the car will go back to the mechanic to get the last bits installed, get the car smog checked and hopefully get it back in my garage.
Found my track wheels, need to order my track tires and get them mounted.
Track day is in 16 days.

I'll check today to make sure. Pretty stoked about my track wheels, I'm running 4 OE 17x9 Cup 2's with 275-40-17 Toyo RA1's. It'll be really nice to be able to rotate the tires, they'll last far longer this way...

Ya know, I could've tried really hard to get them to fit with max negative camber and a slammed rear ride height but I decided it wasn't worth it.
I ended up trading them for a set of the Cup 2's instead. I'll resell the front 7.5" Cup 2's and have 4 17x9 rear Cup 2 instead.

Well, the fabricator is done with my rollbar. I'm very pleased with their work. They welded in the rollbar to structural parts of the car, repaired the damage left to the chassis when I removed the craptacular Autopower rollbar the car came with, mounted the sub strap anchors and inner harness lap belt anchors.
The main hoop is incredibly tight to the top of the car, literally no space between it and the sunroof at all.
Next up it goes back to the mechanic to finish up installing the Vitesse stage 2, install the momo steering wheel, get the thing to pass smog and align it.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures...

Coming along nicely. Bet you can't wait for that trackday. Best of luck with it all.

I'm just hoping that the mechanic has it done and smogged this Friday. Friday is my only free day to register the car and get plates for it. Then I'll drive it the next week to make sure it's ready for the track on April 25th
