Hey Chris! Thanks for all the hard work. A large amount of parts should arrive at the shop tomorrow.

Update is that the new clutch spline is in. Decided on a lightened stock flywheel, cup clutch and KEP stage 1 PP.

Well, a few quick pics. These will be my street wheels, 996tt hollow spokes. We need a little more rear camber to get them inside the wheel wells, but once that happens should be good!

What's the offset on those? Isn't it in the 40s?

Are those the 18x11's? Thought you could generally only fit them on early offset cars...

Yes, 18x11's I think the offset is 47. It's going to be a tight squeeze, but I saw pictures here of another late 951 that fit them, so I know it'll work. He was running them on his race car, which was going through far more suspension movement than mine will on the street.

If they don't fit, I'll sell them...

Good luck! I hope you get them to fit without too much effort as they are nice wheels.

Yeah, it'd be better if they had a 60 offset. Before I bought them I did a little research and it sounded like with the proper amount of camber they'd fit. Saw pics of them on a 951.

If not, I'll sell the rears and try to find a set of the narrow body hollow spoke turbo twists that are 18x10 ET65.

I just put those same wheels on my '87 not too long ago.
I backed out of the driveway with a passenger and instantly shredded the sidewalls on $400 worth of tires. That was AFTER rolling the hell out of the fender wells (to be fair, i didn't go far enough with my rolling job initially and that's what created the problem....but even after a complete fender rolling it still rubbed a lot).

The good news is that you can swap to the '86 Turbo rear hubs (which isn't a horrible job, but you'll have to do rear wheel bearings in the process), add a 15mm rear spacer, and have a beautiful set of lightweight wheels on your car Most people with '86 rear hubs would be glad to trade you for '87+ rear hubs anyways...

Feel free to PM me if you have any problems!

Edit: rear camber on mine was at 1.5

You have seen those on 951s... but only '86s with the early offset.

And there is no narrow body version of those wheels in a hollow spoke.

If you want hollow spokes, you'll have to go with narrow body 993 turbo twists.

Chris has a great reputation - you're in good hands.

(And, I have to say, that engine stand is one of the slickest things I've seen in a while!)

Hey doc, samluke ran those on his white Turbo S, so they’ll surely work. Thanks to the factory, I’ll call them “pressed” quarters, much tighter than rolling, and he did coerce the quarters a bit plus ran more aggressive camber to make it work. For those two reasons I chose the Sport Techno wheels (11 et63), no manipulating necessary.

BTW, the color of those wheels may indicate the 996 Turbo S version, which I believe have a unique part number casting, though I can’t remember specifics. Look near the valve stem to see the width and offset, should be 11 et45.

Rear Sport Techno shot…

Yep, that was the car I saw with these wheels. My car is an "S" as well, so it has the factory "rolled" fenders. I plan on running at least -2 camber in the rear, so hopefully they'll fit without having to massage the rears fenders more.

They're definitely 11" wide in the rear, 8.5's in the front.

John, engine is back in the car. Oil pan gasket has been done, along with the rod bearings. Balance shaft housing has been resealed, new motor mounts in, new KEP stage 1 PP, cup clutch, new guide tube, lightened factory flywheel installed. New axles in, 1 new wheel bearing as well, along with tie rod ends.

The Vitesse stage 2 turbo is bolted on, need to get the rest of the kit in, install the gauges, seats, momo steering wheel, align it, tune it, get the structural rollbar (welded to the rear sub frame and rockers) welded in and I'll be good to go.

Should have the car back at the end of the month, which will work out well since I'm out of town the next two weeks with the Air Force...

Josh - this has evolved into quite the project. The car is going to be awesome when they are done! Did you discuss the turbo oil line orifice with them?

Yeah, the car didn't show up in quite the condition I expected. I'm in discussions with the shop that did the PPI as I'm not too happy with their assessment.

btw, I have fitted 18 x 10 et 60 w 275s up front on my stock '86. I think smaller coils and camber helps but that's just to show that you can run some decent rubber up front too.
