Have you ever personally seen a wheel spacer failure? Pics?

I have been heavy in motor sports for about 25 years and have yet to see a spacer related failure. (Probably part of the reason Porsche used them from the factory.

I have always heard these "Wives tales" but have yet to see any real proof.

I read that whole thread and I don't see a failure?! The "adapter" in the pics is still totally intact and the conclusion seems to be that they forgot to tighten the lugs. Which would end in the same result with or without a spacer/adapter.

Cole,
Agreed I have run spacers for quite sometime....and have never had a problem. NEVER.

FWIW the cars come from the factory with sapcers, and not just the 44's....the 911's do/did as well.

I have seen two spacer issues/failures.

One on a car I purchased, one on a dirtrck car.

When you have a sandwich with a spacer in the middle with different expansion rates, especially combined with high heat from brakes, etc.

It just makes no sense to me. Why would you not invest in the correct offset wheel instead of fawking around with spacers - even worse the tendency to buy any used spacer up for sale without any knowledge of manufacturer, condition, damage, etc.

Not me in a million years. You all go ahead and I sincerely wish you the best of luck...... as for me I won't need any.

To each his own I suppose, but spacers are another topic way overworked on here.

Now back to this "190mph"......so if I read these entries correctly, we have 951's flying all over the place @ 170-180mph all day? Not buying it. Sorry.

Slips please.

In Nevada during the Silver State Classic they have one day where they will let you do a standing mile.
Maybe I'll take my modded Turbo S out next year and see what she'll do. I'am pertty sure 170 to 180 is doable?

Give it a try. Guaranteed fun!

170-180...... Unless you are very heavily modded I bet < 160mph

On that same Super Car exposed a Ford GT with supercharger putting down 750 to 800 hp did crack 200 mph in the mile. So given the right gearing and 700 hp + hp weight as close to 3000 lbs
as reasonable, 200 mph in a mile should be doable.

Seems like a tall order for a 951, 86 up Vett anybody?

160! I'd be ticked! It hits 120 in a blink!

Are the front splitters able to with stand high speed runs?

yeah you think... A standing mile is far different than you have envisioned.

What are your mods and power output?

Until someone can actually POST time slips this thread is useless.

The 951 is simply not a 170-180-190 or whatever car without ALOT of mods and $$$$. Two or three on this board can and have. The rest? Well....prove it
