Throttle response/spool. Every little bit adds up.. one or two little things don't make a big difference. 10-20... REALLY add up. It's those little things that make everyone ask why your car feels so much faster than theirs when you have the "same" stuff. Cracks me up every time I hear that.

Maybe the cheapest way would be to find a Lotis Esprit TB set and adapt to 951?

Lotus parts = expensive and rare. After combing eBay for 20 minutes tonight, you could have a 951 intake manifold + the busa TBs for under $200. I think it would make a hell of a winter project, and after thinking about it a bit I'm sure that I'll try my hand at it when I finally get my 951 back on the road. But I'm a little concerned as well about how the TBs would hold up under a normal street boost (12-15 psi) over the long run.

And as far as the "why??" part, it all comes down to minimizing the turbo lag as much as possible. Like when I drove my buddy's 951 w/a Vitesse MAF versus my stock airbox. Otherwise very similar cars. But his car had so much better throttle response that it makes me want to do everything I can to have that.

Just a really quick search for gave me the link above. That kit runs 20psi of boost. They will hold up just fine.

what is the optimal intake runner lenght in order to adapt an ItB set up. I dont think i have seen this in the thread, if someone did post it im sorry for missing it.

I know lots of people doing this on a 190e cosworth engines they have used e30 M3 throttle bodies w/192mm runner length. and it wakes thoose cars up big time! I thought of doing it to my turbo cosworth but left the custom sheet metal intake on instead

Yeah, Busa ITBs, a stock 951 manifold, a grinder and a welder. You guys crack me up. How hard can it be?

yea just dont forget to model the intake and do some transient CFD tests on it to make sure it flows evenly. Im working on modeling a intake myself but im going to stay with a single throttle body

The Jenvey FAQ has some good info on runner length (and other design criteria).

I was joking when I said that. Of course it's more involving than that. Glad I could put a smile on your face though!

I had a set of 'Busa ITB's for a while, sold them forward because I was so limited in thinking that I couldn't solve AOS and brake booster deletion...

They're cheap and big enough, go for it. the biggest probem is linkage modification.

For runner calculation Jenvey indeed has good information. Here http://www.homemadeturbo.com/tech_projects/itb/ you also can find some nice to know -stuff.

i am working on a simple AOS delete and you might try a brake booster off a 924 they are smaller, unless you want to delete it because of vacuum draw. in that case you can use the GM "hydraboost" system which pumps power steering fluid and uses that as your power assist.
