If it is then we shall go from there....considering I already have the 968 base & side templates/parts that the TRS mounts to, it would not be hard.

When we looked at this last year the projected retail cost per unit was $740.00, just to give you an idea of cost.

I do not like products that are stupid hard to install...not when, with a little thought, you can make it realtively simple. Plus with the mirrors I did not see a reason to have to purchase the whole kit (wiring, motor, stem, seals), take the door apart, piece everything together, etc....when all most wanted was to change the look/style of the flag type.

I would rather install in a few hours and drive the rest of the day in lieu of spending 1.5 days changing complete assemblies...

Smarter NOT Harder.......call me lazy

I mean, it is not that I would not be happy to make one for everyone....we will see what happens by the end of May.

We ran the numbers on a fiberglass hood today... too large a piece IMO, and expensive to do right....consistently.

We ran the numbers on a FRP or ABS hood...this seemed a bit more reasonable AND the QC would be excellent. Mold formed so the uniformity would be significantly higher than 'glass. The problem is they would go for close to $800....and would need to pre-sell/reserve at least 14-16 units just to cover 75% of cost.

The great thing about doing a "plastic" hood is all the options (vents, ducts, scoops....whatever) that can be cast in the mold, lots of flexibility there

Just an FYI....

I'd buy it.

The price you'd have to sell it for is under $795. If it's light(<15lbs) and fits like a factory hood, you'd be stealing a lot of business away from a couple of unnamed businesses who produce junk.

This sounds really good Patrick. What is the expectation of weight compared to c/f or f/g? I don't think that's a lot of money if it's as you describe. It would be of factory quality.

I am not sure about the weight of fiberglass...but I think it to be around 15lbs(TonyG?).

The weight of an ABS unit would be around 12.8-13.4lbs.

The only issue is the start up cost for these (+/- $13k)...so they will probably take a back seat, for awhile.

An FRP vented nose panel would be cool, or something along those lines. I really like the look of the 931 vents.
