Just did the excellence DIY .. wheel paint.
Tried it out on the old phonies.. came out pretty good I must say. Now that I've got the hang of it I'm going to do some of the extra sets I've got lying around D90's, twists, more phonies.. A great way to renew old wheels rather cheeply.

Degrease and clean/ sand sand sand p220 grit paper/ prime/ light wet sand/ paint couple light coats then a heavy one/ then clear coat. easy pessy bits and cheesy.

Not exactly sure the color name but there were only 4 choices from duplicolor at my auto parts store. black/silver/and white being the others. I Went by the cap color. Maybe gray or charcoal.

Yep, I was just reading that issue and that article. Great to see that it is as easy to do as they state in the article.
Much better than paying hundreds of dollars per wheel to send out to be refinished.
