944 S head prepared for 2.5liter turbo engine

Patrick, tights would make for a sexy air filter...
Nice work Raceboy. I like how you moved the turbo frontwards so that the steering shaft was not a problem anymore with exhaust pipes. Or less so.
The sump looks like it has had some life too
Did you need to relocate the wastegate actuator behind the turbine housing or is it how it came with the turbo?

So, today finally got to drive it after completing air fitler install and coolant hose fabrication.
It drove nicely and the biggest question mark was Holset wastegate actuator which I knew nothing about. I just tested it with compressed air and it opened at ~1 bar. On the car with backpressure etc involved it opened at 0.6 bar and that is the base boost pressure. At least it wasn't 2 bars or something
Thom, I relocated it on the compressor. I clocked the turbocharger like I wanted it to be, then cut the mounting tab on the compressor and welded it back to new location.
But, the car is very fast even with this lowish 0.6 bars and spools up nicely having full boost at 3000 rpm on 3rd gear. When upping the boost it will come even sooner (I modified the actuator so I can control both chambers).
I'll wash the car tomorrow and will make some video of few runs. It really feels so good to drive it after all the fabrication.

I started the engine swap from turbocharged euro 924 2.0 already with the 2.5 16v turbo in mind, did not even consider 944 8v lol.
I only have dynosheet from the turbocharged 2.0 (completely stock engine, just added turbo+efi). Engine still runs happily to this day in my friends car. 206 whp and 265 wNm which would make ~245 hp/310 Nm from the engine. But later I tuned it better and it got a bit more power. I used IHI ballbearing turbo and 951 intercooler. Still not bad for stock engine, never opened.
On E85 and a gent in Holland got ~400hp from his stockish (different cam) 924 with bigger turbo.

Yesterday went to do some logging and tuning, it drives quite ok though at full throttle is a bit rich (lambda ~0.77-0.79). During weekend will tune it a bit leaner.
Took some photos and made a short video too.

Went through small project today: changed the needles on oil pressure and volt gauge to 924S longer ones. I really like the needles but did not like the 0-5 bar range of 924S gauge and most of all the font they used on 924S gauges so I swapped the needles to 924 gauges:

Since I want a boost gauge but don't want more gauges (and GTS tach with boost gauge is non-existant and scarily expensive), my next project is this:
http://porsche-foorum.org/foorum/dow...=192&mode=view
So if anyone has to offer 924S tach with MPG gauge, I would be really interested in it. Can be with defects like broken/missing glass or something.

No, it does not have anything and really does not need anything because it is very lightweight (made of aluminium sheet-metal) and the silicone couplers hold it nice and strong. And besides, it does not have room to budge

Nah, not needed, the throttle is not stiff or anything. But I will probably retrofit electronic throttle and acc pedal over the winter to get cleaner and less crowded engine bay. Will be using one from BMW and since VEMS can easily control it, why not. Then I can have different driving profiles too (for example "agressive valet/car washer mode" or "wife" mode lol ).
Right now I am in the middle of retrofitting electric speed-sensitive power steering to the car (with spare column, not taking the car apart until I can bolt the new one on):

Posting a video of how it runs at 1 bar of boost, pretty fast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCLQ...ature=youtu.be
