I ran a 12.67@111mph on street tires. The run was done at 17psi and on pump gas which is about 340whp. On the 7th run of the night I broke a cage in an inner CV.

I would like to see how well a 2.5 951 can go.
You aren't supposed to drag race Porsches....or at least that what people say.

Something that you will always fight with is getting off the line. Turbos either boost and traction to get off the line. It is a fine line between bog and spin. It is the nature of small displacement/high hp engines. Your power is these with that high of a trap speed. But heres something that may shock you. If you lower your ET, your speed may actually go down slightly in a 1/4 mile. You can generally get a little more speed by spinning.

As far as the nitrous guy. Well, you haven't used nitrous until you have sprayed about a 90hp shot into a bike.

I have raced my 951 in the 1/4 mile. Its fun, but really, not all that fast (see my 1/4 times/speeds...I am at 5000ft which slows stuff down a lot). Of coarse, I haven't really seen "fast" times/speeds from a 951 yet.

My new goal is to be the first to hit 12s on a stock turbo... err maybe not quite, but that would be sick! I think people are wrong about the 951, it certainly isn't an EASY car to drag but it does have potential.

Tms, what kind of launch did you have with your 12.67 pass? In the GN I used to stage shallow - just until the second staging light came on. Then brake boost. When the second yellow light down the tree lit up, I nailed it. I realize this car will need to be launched differently and far more gently.

3500rpm clutch drop wth lots of throttle modulation off the line and through first gear.

I never clutch drop I actually ride the clutch prettty hard and slip it out progressively to buffer the launch alittle. I think in general it helps over a drop not only in terms of launching without breaking anything but also in terms of getting off the line faster. My ET Streets times are not posted on here but even on slicks I slip the clutch and so far my best 60ft is a 1.7. I usually pull 1.8's on average on MT's.

Not a hard goal to achieve....in fact, maybe an easier and cheaper way to go than big turbos, high flow heads, etc.

Me too both times. I think it might have to do with the trans mission moving. The second time it broke was on an autoX coarse going into a hard right turn. That is the one with just the side blown out of it. I have put in a solid engine mount, it is so loud i can't stand it. I am going to take it back out at some point and try to add some sort of dampening to it.

NICE! I think yo're on to something.

What shape were your engine mounts in? Mine are pretty old.

Engine mounts are the lindsey ones that are near solid but not. They have about 5000 miles on them. At this point my drive line is pretty solid.

When you broke the CV cage. Did you have the Lindsey mounts installed?
