Bracket car anyone? LOL

I should be updating again really soon.

These runs were on street tires at 18 psi of boost.

I'd like to see where my hoopty compares with some of the big boys. How about it.... Sean B, Tom M. George D, Darwin, Waggas, DaveM, Chris W, Duke, Patrick, Bruce, Tony G, any other LS cars ...anyone else?? Lets revive this thing..

Vic,

I've got a set of Victoracer shaved track tires in my garage that should have been used THREE years ago. Once I get the car back from Motorsport, I'll hit the quarter at http://www.tucsonracewaypark.com/ at their test/tune events late summer/early fall.

My setup should allow a few runs without major issues.

The website www.tucsonracewaypark.com changed to http://sidragway.com/

Funny, it starts with Sid.

Sweet. I almost forgot about this thread. Sid you, are now JUST into 5th Place. Missing 4th place by less than a 100th of a second. I think you'll be up to 3rd soon.

My best time is still the same. I ran a lot afterwards, but only got a higher MPH. Not a faster time. I got up to 124.7 MPH before I tore her down.

What a lot of people don't realize is that I made the 11 second run on a mostly stock set up with a MAX CHIP and a 60-1 Turbo. NOT the Garrett Dual BB Turbo and Motec. !! I knew I had more power, so I never tried the hard launches that I did with the lesser HP set up. it was only about 20-30 more hp though.

Turn it up to 21psi and go run 11's Sid.. It's past due for a fresh Leader. I will never be able to get back on top anyway. I will be a V8 "Other" number soon enough... Hopefully.

I do remember what you were running. Weight makes a huge difference!!

If I can get all my ducks in a row this week I plan on running much faster next week. I was babying it tonight really, due to the street tires.

I backed it up all night and that's what makes me happy. I'm not into just a single glory run. I want to be able to repeat it easily. It's coming along now .

I love this car, not quite the fastest daily driver I've built, but it's getting close.

Weight is paramount! With Road Course stuff, WHERE the weight is located is also key.

Street Tires?! That's a loose Term. I had The Nitto Drag "Street Tires" Please tell me you're not running Continental Rain tires or something?

I've never been a true "best time" person. Always a MPH person. I guess it comes from doing a million "roll on" races on the street. I would go watch them run the 1/4 and only look for the MPH and know If I was going to win. Hard Core 1/4 mile starts don't mean much in Roll on races. I can't believe more people never really did that. It was easy money that way. I would NEVER street race anymore. I was a bit of an idiot back then. Old age calms the idiot in everyone. - mostly; Always exceptions

I hear ya on the street racing. I was always known for getting a car to hook on the street, and destroying high $$ cars with my low ten second Chevy luv. I could easily beat low 9 second cars. My last street race was with my nova that ran in the 8s, couldn't get the big tires to hook and ended up sideways at 120 looking at headlights coming at me. Not a good feeling. There is a point where a car (drag car anyway) becomes too fast for the street.

In regards to my tires. I burned off my drag radials so I put my regular khumho's back on. I think I have it figured out now since I got pretty good 60' times with them.

A turbo 5.3 huh... It better run tens or..I'd rethink that decision.

It will be fun to compare your setup to mine (my 3.1 16v anyway) once you get it done.

The 5.3 is the block I started with. It's extremely strong. Full floating wrist pins and huge monster rods, The Sleeves are twice as thick as the 5.7's. Corvette Z06 heads ALL FROM THE FACTORY. The best Chevy V8 to boost ever. I can't wait for his to be finished.

I can't wait for YOU.. (SID) To turn up the boost to about 37psi absolute. (same as 22 gauge psi in Houston) **** WILL BE QUICK! WIth that PSI, I ran 124.7mph ---

With the new set up, I'm hoping to be well into the 130's. I will do a nitrous run after break in which, if I don't screw anything up. Should net a 140+mph run. They sound like high numbers, but mathematically are conservative.

475hp / 2300lb car = 4.84 lbs / hp Another perspective; A 2012 Mustang is 3600lbs would have to have 744 RWHP to match it. LOL. Good stuff.

For the Record, My goal is 500whp at 2200lbs..... Same as a 820whp Mustang. We have to have goals right?

Lets throw on the nitrous. 150 shot (at the wheels)

475 + 150 = 625whp 2300/625 = 3.68lbs / hp. = 978whp Mustang.. So basically an 1100hp motor. ROFL! It just gets ludicrous.

People are starting to ask me if I'm going to Bore and stroke it. I used to say yes, but I highly doubt it at this point. There is just no need.

My Starts will still be soft to save the trans and my times will still be in the 11's.. It will be the MPH that will show all the difference.

I don't know about 10s, I don't think my LSD will hold up. I really can't wait to get done with the 951 but the Vette is pretty fun for now. Dead even with a ZR1 is nothing to be ashamed of.
