I read about it in "Car and Driver" Years ago.
It used 944 doors but the rest was completely experimental and could be set up front, rear, or mid engined. 4, 6, 8 or 12 cylinders.

How cool is that, being able to change your engine location and number of cylinders like changing your suspension settings!
