Thanks for the info Lart. Those are good number on the 61. Did you get the E or B housing?

I am giving a lot of thought to the idea of staying with that car and part mine out, that car has a hit on the driver's side front fender and door as well, I need to get a body shop repair estimate, also the interior is not as good as mine, my interior is spotless the 87 has cracks on the dash and the seats has little cuts. The SFR headers stg II and SFR exhaust system has to do a lot with the spool up time, my car with 298rwhp and 311Tq feels so slow compared to the 87.

According to the boost graph HERE 16 PSI on that run.

It's not tuned yet. I've just got the Wolf-3D running sequential injection and am in the process of going sequential ignition / coil-on-plug. Unfortunately my widefire went again in cylinder No.4 yesterday so Dave Lindsey's sending me a Cometic.

It is performing significantly better now with the cam sensor fitted. Proper tuning should start in the next few weeks.

No regrets about the 75 here.

If you want fast spool, go for the 61. If you want to go more extreme, try the 75.

I know what your thinking, but I'll let you make up your own mind. It's currently at Majestic for it's FOUR rebuild. This turbo is NOT going back in my car. I'm probably going to put it on ebay if Majestic won't buy it back from me.

The good news is that Majestic didn't rebuild it this time. They sent it off to Turbonetics. It got a brand new Turbonetics center section and new seals again. It also comes with a new 6 month waranty from Majestic. It got whatever the new thing is with Turbonetics and they sell this turbo for $1200. I'll be asking $800 for it. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks Rick. I'm thinking the super 65 might be the best of both worlds. I'll talk to Dave to see what he thinks. Get that beast of yours tuned. I spent an hour today on your website looking at all of the pictures. What a beautiful car.

for whats it worth, I've got the super 61 turbo on my car and the spool up is very fast also, my car produces 421.9 bhp which to my knowledge, is still the highest dyno readout of any 944 turbo so far dyno verified in the UK the car was built by andrew sweetenham of promaxmotorsport.com and tuned by wayne schofield of chipwizards.com

My Super61 holds 21 psi all the way to red line. At 16 psi it made 350rwhp, at 18, 375, at 21, 401 on pump gas. The power peak is deceiving. It's not where the peak happens, bigger turbos are going to peak higher at higher rpm. For me it's about comparing the the lower end of the curve as it is building power before it reaches peak. Besides, with my tires and the cold weather 350 rwhp is too much.

A 61 will spool up fast - particularly as your is a 2.8 litre ! I believe the dyno figure of 381.2 RWHP was obtained at ABG in early 2004 ...

That's really incredible, that the "smallest" of their line makes that much power and doesn't run out up top. Good info.
BTW Rick, your web site is just AWESOME. Thanks.
Time to rethink turbo options for the rebuild perhaps.

Sounds like these are some really good turbos.
