Ready to pour in a V8
Finally got fed up with the constant tweeking and adjusting and the concearn over detonation, fuel air ratios and vac. leaks and pulled the 4cly turbo and Im in the process of installing an 02 LS1 V8. This is not done with the renegade hybrid kit but rather with a custom fabricator in my area who has already done 8 conversions including one with an LS6 that is putting 440 rwhp. Ill keep you guys posted on the progress and cost.

BTW the whole dressed V8 weight is the same as our engine so balance is not affected.

if it were the LT-1, I would have kept the turbo. The LT is has the heavier iron block with aluminum heads but the LS is all aluminum and it drops right in without having to modify the crossmember or the engine bay to any significant degree. You will gain chain instead of the timing belt, a reliable water pump, distributorless ignition and an a/c compressor that does not loose its charge every 6 months etc............and last but not least, lagless torque.

Hell yeah, buddy! Personally, I love the 951 motor, but I'm a fan of the V8 swaps. I wouldn't mind getting a junkyard '44 and fabbing up motor mounts and such to put an 8 banger in there.
Like others said... you'd do well to sell the motor on here. There are plenty of people who will "deal with it" nicely. Good luck and keep us posted! I want to see pics of the motor mounts if you're willing to share.

Why not butcher some car that deserves it?
Sorry, but i haven't seen many conversions that looked decent.
I have no problems with my car, it's just maintained properly.
