lol here come the flames!! I personaly would have just dumped the money to get the car right. Im not against v8 implants but i think it goes better in a ****ty 944 then the 951. The 951 is so great when modified why change it? O well, good luck with the conversion! I had thought about buying a POS 944 and dropping a LS1 into it for the hell of it, but decided to keep my money hahaha.

Good luck on the swap! Talk about a serious power to weight ratio. I like V8 power but with the gas prices around here(2.50/gal), I just got this 88 951 and am looking forward to better mileage than the V8 car I had(Bricklin gullwing). I'd like to have a V8 944/951 on the side, though. Keep us posted on your progress.

I am currently looking for a 02-04 Corvette convertible it's for my wife, but I am leaving the 951 unmolested and for me only, I like it the way it's. If I wanted a v8 powered car I will buy a v8 car plain and simple.

Instead of the LS1 put in a Buick Grand National turbo motor.

Bone stock they put out something like 380 lbs. of torque at 2000 rpm, I've had two of them they are unbelieveable motors! I kicked the crap out of an LS1 camaro once when I had mine.

Those cars will do 11's with only simple mods.

I must have missed the part where cost was discussed in the post you replied to. Not everybody cares about 'cheaper', some care about better.

Have any of you guys supporting this swap ever been near a track?

I'm guessing you're all a bunch of poseurs or drag racers.

If youve read... most of the people talking about supporting the v8 are saying theyd like to have one on the side. Like i had said earlier, i thought about buying a run down POS base 944 and dropping v8 into it. Personaly i would not put one in a turbo since its an excelent track car. But last i knew... no body was talking about a track car here, or even compared the v8 to the orginal motor on a track... same goes with no one mentioned cost.

If you have nothing good to say, then dont say anything.

Cost? a renegade swap runs about 18k plus the value of the car 8-10k. You could buy a nice unmolested C5 for a few thousands more and you will have a splendid track car & very nice looking vehicle.

I don't think a 944 turbo with a v8 is a better car. Just buy the buick and make it a dragster.

Aren't you guys the ones from the mutt board the baned a bunch of us a few months ago?

I can see how someone would want to use a 951 instead of a 944. Think about the upgraded brakes, suspension, ect. I also think this is a really cool idea, but only when saving a car from being scrapped or junked. I would rather see a chevy powered 944 than see it crushed. I really respect these machines when they are done well, but still cringe at the sight of an excellent 951 being butchered up.

As far as I can see the guys from the mutt board have nothing to do but cruise rennlist to boost their egos, to prove that their porchevs are better cars, sad very sad what a bunch of losers.
