Now if I can just get John to come visit Disney World !!!

Would be like having Picaso come help you on one of your paintings

On the turbo odds, I kinda feel all or nothing. I.e. it is just rebuilt so unless some object got sucked in, which does not seel to be, no way it could have gone bad. Although, fresh rebuild, maybe I didn't give enough "break in time"???

And then I rememeber John mentioning about the big compressor and small hotside and that causing a lot of backpressure within the turbo, that there was some compressor surge or something that affected the internals of the turbo and broke the shaft, etc.

I guess in the back of my mind it is jsut to coincidental with the new turbo. And I always expect the worst to happen. Yea, my wife hates that I always see or look for the negatives

To be honest guys, if it is the turbo, the car will probably go for sale. Unless Dave would cover the cost of repair and the cost to remove and instal, which I doubt would be the case.

When i talked to the Turbonetics dealer here regarding 'breaking in a turbocharger' he said and quote" Drive it like you stole it', unless he's mistaken i never heard of breaking in a turbocharger....

ANy failures due to manufacturing assembley, workmanship etc SHOULD be covered, but this woul dtake time since you have to remove the turbo (Arg) ship it to them, they have to inspect it blah blah........

You jumping into the worse cases as you mentioned let's just hold on and see what goes on........

Do you have a used (working) TPS or could you borrow one for testing (as Fast951 mentioned).

Thanks for the postive feedback and outlook Hos. It helps!!

And to all the other guys posting help as usual, thanks!!

Well, I did the "click" test of the TPS and that was fine. How else can you test it?

If a bad TPS causing the DME to use the incorrect fuel/timing then you cannot generate enough exhaust energy to spin the turbo. That's why I was asking if you hear intake pops, as indication of lean mixture under load & WOT...

toddk911: Good AND bad TPS's click, clicks just mean that their are properly aligned, it's ther internals that fail.........

TPS Testing
Control unit plug terminal 2 to ground:

* throtle closed 0 ohms
* throtle open infinite ohms

Control unit plug terminal 3 to ground:

* throtle closed Infinite ohms
* throtle open 0 ohms

Air Flow Sensor Check
:

* terminal 3 and ground 5 volts DC

Voltage between terminal 2 and ground :

* sensor door closed 250 to 260 millivolts
* sensor door open 4.6 volts DC

Air Flow sensor temperature sensor:

Resistance between connector terminals 6 and 22:

* 1.4 to 3.6 K ohms @ 59 to 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C)

Hope this helps.
