Peter,

Clearly you have done a lot of work there and have followed your own path - your car looks impressive. How are you liking the side exit exhaust ? Is the car street & track ?

Thats only the second 85 951 that I have seen. (that I know of - I didn't even know there were 85 951's until I laid my hands on one).

Do you have any other pictures of your dash? What did you use to cover it?

Hi.
In a nutshell, yes, cars are expensive in Singapore. There's a complicated system here-basically, a Certificate of Entitlement (COE) is required for every car and it is attained through a bimonthly bidding system. The COE's average cost nowadays is S$13000 (US$9200) and each cert is valid for 10 years. To keep a car on the road, the COE has to be renewed every 10 years. COE's used to run as high as S$100000 (US$70000) in the 90s!!
Initial car prices are high, road tax is high (I pay S$3700/US$2600 yearly) and most roads that lead to the city are tolled.

I suppose suede is leather? That stuff Peter uses can be sprayed on.

I'd be interested in that stuff you paint on dash as I have a shiny new one made of f/g and it needs something. Maybe Duke could explain what this 'flocked' stuff is?
Also Olli, that vented nose panel in the black '85 (I didn't know that 85's existed either?), where do you get them from? I've just got a f/g one and it's not really the neatest job. That one looks very well done or is it a stock header panel that has been cut open?

Actually that black car is not black, paint is Graphite Metallic. Nosepanel is self made from original item. I have to check out more pictures.

Check out these "flocked" dashboards. It's the stuff which is spreyd on using a little bit same method when you do powdercoating.

Colour options

Somehow i have it hard to belive this method is only used in Sweden & Finland...

I think the process is conducted by charging the "host" (in this case the dash) with statical electricity which then draws the loose particles on to to dash. That's all I know

I've been trying to find an English term without luck, as you say Olli, it's hard to believe this is only used in our countries!

However I found out that "Flockad" comes from the word "flockning" which is "flocculation" in English. It's basically a process and not something specific for our rally dashes..
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flocculation

We need a language guru from a rally shop...anyone!?

Patrick you can buy spray on (cans) of textured paints at bunnings/Mitre 10. These are the same effect as flocking. I used the spray on cans to do this dash.
