Someone post the Clarksons video of the R1 vs the Carrera S4 ....
If you can stay with a 98+ R6, GSX-R600, CBR F4i, then the rider is
a) not racing with you
b) has NO clue how to ride
c) you are driving one of the fastest cars on the planet
I can post results from dragstrips showing bone stock R-6s running 10.98, GSX-Rs in the 10.56s, etc.
Bikes over 600ccs are going to smoke your *** every time 100 times out of 100. Plently of GSX-1300Rs and ZX-12Rs have run 9.50s in the high 140s. Are there some Supras that can run that fast? Sure are but they arent making 700HP, try more like 1000+. The Supra below runs in the high 8s, does it look real stock to you?

Good points Matt.
However, wit hsome older bikes and/or 600cc-750cc bikes in rolling starts, our cars have a much better chance as comparing 1/4 times is not even a comparison as we all know and have seen our cars in rolling starts stay with or beat cars that have much faster 1/4 times. I am sure no one here will argue that alomst any bike will beat almost any car from a dead start launch or 1/4 race.
I beleive the best show of our cars "rolling" performance is the 60-100mph in 3rd test or 60-100 period. I think it was posted that a fairly modded 951 has 60-100 times close to super cars, or at least cars with much more power and faster 1/4 times then ours.

Another thing, people think 600cc are soft comparing to 1000’s. Think again, in a 0-125mph run the difference between a modern 600cc and a 1000cc bike is "only" about 1.5 - 2 seconds. In a 0-60mph run its negligible (0.3seconds). This is because 600cc is a full on nail affair whilst 1000cc is "s#$t” up she comes affair. Putting 180bhp on tarmac effectively becomes a bit of a handful hence until well on the go 1000cc’s don’t have that much of an advantage. For the road 600cc SS is considered ultimate by many riders. To ride a 1000cc well you need a lot of skill. I had Fireblade in front of me yesterday on my ride and he could not shake me for the life of God! Whilst my bike complemented me and my riding his intimidated the crap out of him.
More figures for you - 0-125.
600cc will do it in just under 11 seconds (10.7)
1000cc at about 9 seconds (Fireblade), (GSXR) 7.9
Busa however will do it in 7.3

This thread is hilarious, my daddy can beat your daddy . Most of you must be closet ricers because you share the same attitude towards any other car or bike, my car (951, supra etc) beats it all and I will argue my point to death .
In F1 all the teams have been chasing the Ferraris for five years now without any success and I just cannot understand why they are not using all the geniuses on internet forums to catch up, afterall building 1000 HP plus engines is the norm on the net, not the exception.

I am faster in my 951 in anything other than a dead straight road than I am on my bike (97 YZF 750R). On the highway though, the bike would rocket past the car at any speed under 200KPH. But that's just me riding and I'm much more confident in the 951 than on the bike. Strangely, the car "feels" faster than the bike because of the huge increase in torque when the boost hits. The bike just pulls hard from 4000-13000 RPM.

There are a few factors to consider when racing bikes. Power to weigh ratios for bikes will slaughter any car from a standstill. Very few pieces of machinery can keep up with even 600cc bikes off the line. Even if a car had a similar p/w ratio, grip will become a huge issue. At speeds of 100mph and faster, it starts to get close. From 130mph on, because of wind resistance, p/w ratio starts to become less of a factor, and it's easier for the cars to keep up.
Also, regardless of power, weight, and all the techno babble, it takes a LOT more ***** to do 150mph on a bike than in a car, which gives us a nice advantage.

The video with the carrera is relevant as it shows the strengths and weaknesses of both platforms. The point was to show that even when driven by a professional rider it could fall short.

Seriously, Its been said once or twice but, our cars(944 or 951) are made to corner, made for tracks for bends and slaloms and the like. They are not made to go straight, if I wanted a car that would go straight I would have bought a supra(i kid i kid). Really though:
Bikes = speed(Got life insurance?)
Porsche = elegance(aka turns, we don't need no stinkin helmet.)
