Default 951's vs Crotch Rockets

Hello everyone! All my friends are into motorcycles the "superbike" kind they have cbr's and gsxr's blah blah...Im into cars. I was wondering if any of you guys can keep up or beat up on bikes, on the highway of course. What kind of power does it take? What kind of bikes? thanx!

Well, we sure can keep up with them...but because of our car's extra footprint...they will easily lose us altogether.

There are precious few cars in the world that can take a bike - even our beloved 951s don't stand a chance.

I've only got a 750 Katana which is more of a sport cruiser than a true "crotch rocket" and I've utterly embarrased Ferraris, Corvettes, many Mustangs that obviously didn't know better, a couple of Lamborghinis (!), even a few 911s. It really is no contest.

Bike has a hp/weight ratio of like 5lbs/hp...
So you need a good 600hp to keep up...

well our cars are a bit lacking on the power department, you would need at least 500WHP to keep up or even scare SOME crotch rockets. There used to be a 930 down here that would only race bikes and the supra on my sig has been known to eat superbikes for lunch, i haven't raced the new ones, but a couple of years back only a COUPLE of bikes could beat it. Of course from a rolling take off.
it helps that it has 710WHP

Been riding bikes for years and in my experience even a 600cc sport bike will out accelerate almost all cars including Ferraris,Porsche etc etc. I know this because i usually hunt them out. It's simply down to power/weight/bhp ratios. I love my bikes & i love my 951. Both offer fantastic pleasure for different reasons.

Peckster he is talking about the fact that we have 4 wheel's instead of 2. Kind of a joke get it?

It takes quite alot of power to run with a bike. If you want to run with a bike from a 40-60roll you are going to need serious power...like 3.0ltr stroker kind of power.

I ran a r6 from a 40 roll several times on video(my friend was filming in my car with my camera) and he just destroyed me. I would start catching up at around 130mph...but, at that point he was too far ahead for it to matter.
I got confident because I had beaten a old ninja bike the night before from 2-120....then at 120 he started walking me. He was seriously impressed with my car and said that he most of the time toy's wtih car's. The 98 and newer bikes are just too fast though.

Unless ofcourse you want to start a race from a 100mph. I raced a unknown new looking style crotch rocket from 100-170 once. He pulled like crazy on me till 130-135 or so then I started reeling him in. I caught him at 155 or so. At 160+ I was passing him. By 170mph I had a bike length on him. Ofcourse the only reason he didn't pull away too much in the begining of the race for it to matter(just like me racing my freindss 2003 r6) is because he was in too high of gear ......so he only pulled like 10-12 car length's on me to begin with. And since we went for so long I was eventually able to make back up that space. Bikes suck at higher speeds. Wind really get's to them.

oh and ofcourse all of those were 600cc bikes. A liter bike won't hit wind wall like a 600cc bike will......

600cc bikes hit the wall at about 140mph with a good tuck
1000cc bikes hit the wall at around 170mph with a good tuck
and if you are trying to race a busa or something stupid like that with 1300cc's then good luck...those bikes hardly ever stop accerating .....it's like being sucked through a wind tunel.

Stock busa good for 200mph. I have a friend with a modded one that did 220mph.

What sort of rwhp does it take to compete with a Corvette Z06?

I totally agree with what you say, exept stock busas do not do 200mph. Maybe on their speedos and in their riders minds but not in reality.

For reference the superbike race at Road Atlanta had the bikes best laps at 1:27. As a reference a 951 or S2 race prepared for club racing will qualify at 1:41, 1:42.

Compare that to Speedvision GT class best race lap of 1:32, Touring class best race lap of 1:37. Given that the Audi R8's arguably the greatest sports car of our era will qualify at 1:11, 1:12.

So what does all that have to do with a pound of fish. not much, but it does show that the best bikes are unreal. In my view there is no way a 951 can compete with a modern sport bike like a Ducati 999 or the like. But then I am certainly quicker in it than on my 1966 triumph bonneville with drum brakes and amal carbs.

I don't even want to know how 200 is on a bike - anytime I get into triple digits on mine, I've got the adrenaline going. Anytime over 125 is starting to get scary. Fastest I've been is about 135-140. I couldn't even imagine how 200 would feel. Of course you keep telling yourself at higher speeds "it doesn't matter if you wipe out at 60 or 160, you're dead either way" to help you overcome the fear, but after a point, it just doesn't work.

lol you cant keep up with bikes. My friend used to have a track bike (cbr f1 modified "Nicky Haden" replica, was able to beat 748 ducatti) And my car did a half way decent job of keeping up.......... As in me and my freind were impressed on how my car kept up........yet i was still completly destroyed.... So then he bought an R1..... nope no chance not even. And gixxers are faster and the cbr 998 rr is even faster than that sooooo forget it you cant keep up. The cars that can keep up are things like vipers with over 30k of mods or Supras with 50k of mods.
