I really like the way that car looks....very late 80's/early 90's. Pictures can be deceiving, but I kind of question 17,000km (just over 10,000m) with the condition of some of the trim and carpet, the need for a repaint and new windshield, and the condition of that engine bay. I bet with a little research this car comes up featured in some magazines from that era.

TMU due to plastic odometer gear. As —-^ condition is that of a higher ‘kilometerage’ 928.
The below car is less than a half hour away. Too bad seller cannot get better documentation of claimed miles, as I think we all agree that the mileage does not match the condition, or even the work that was done to it. Also, still no explanation of the black overspray on the radiators. Too many questions for this one to hit what a documented 14K mile, 5 speed "S" would be worth. I think this one will stall out at mid/low-20s, which may be enough for the seller.

Interior, engine bay, underside… Hum...
Nice car but with way more miles on it than what's on the odo.

Lots of scratches on ignition lock etc. It’s been a very hard 14k miles. That written, it’s not in bad shape cosmetically.
Somebody did however pay a sheetload for service to make it ready for sale. If the seller/invoice-payer got the car mostly for free then this will go well for them. I think it’s worth at least the bottom-line amount in that service record. That is, for someone that’s going to drive it. As a collector car? Nope.

Is the black spray used to hide rusty/corroded metal parts on the condenser/radiator? I think the seller did some spray without proper taping and didn't know you can buy new stickers, OR, the stickers on the condenser/radiator are just so worn out that this can't possibly be a 14k mile car, so why not just blacken it? I don't think it will hit $20k.

You know, I actually think the car would have done 25k if the odometer read 50000 miles. The seller did a ton of service and the car presents very well. The bidders were hung up on the inconsistencies, rightfully so. With 50ish on the clock, everyone would have seen it as a fully sorted car

Exactly, and my guess is that is likely about what the mileage is, if such things can be gleaned from pictures.

Hmmm...that is a very interesting point and I agree. Which brings up an intriguing question; If you had a sub 20K-mile 928 like this one where the condition was nice but didn't correlate with the mileage, and you lacked the verifiable documentation to back it up, would it be a wise idea to roll the odometer UP to show more mileage before putting it up for auction? Seems like an absurd thing to do on the surface of it, but for sure in this car's case it would have helped.

Whoa Nate - that's actually a federal offense to tamper with an odometer - either way.
