Here is a very clean and original 89 S4 5sp that I looked at (didn't drive) a few months ago. I peeked underneath and it is clean and dry, has both belly pans, original exhaust, luggage cover, radio, etc. Very thick stack of records. I don't know where it came from, didn't ask. https://www.elevationmotors.com/1989...7/Details.aspx
I'm leery of the maintenance work- you can see the air intake tube is on backwards. I fixed it while I was there but they must have taken the pics before that. The two owners are really honest and fair guys, I bought a Range Rover from them and they really took care of me. Their back showroom inventory is to drool over.

Very pretty car. What's up with the antenna? Doesn't look stock and it has a funky upward "bend."
Yes it is, I had heard that the car was on a boat to the EU, but I guess that was not true. Also IIRC it is a re-paint but that is the original colour.
This 5-speed car seemed really attractive to me until I remembered that Porsche didn't use base/clear on non-metallic colors until the mid-90's. The seller states he thinks the roof may have been painted, but there's clear coat failure on the left side door and rear quarter. It seems to me the car was probably repainted in the past and done poorly, and therefore the clear is going to delaminate everywhere else in the near future as well, necessitating a full repaint to fix. Would you guys agree with this assessment? Seems like a great car otherwise.
This one is for sale in my neighborhood. In fact I think this is the same car that was posted in the "Spotted In the Wild" thread twice over two years ago. Once on the highway and once by me when it was parked right in front of my house.
Great color combo and an '89. With baby #2 on the way and moving later this year, it prevents me from being serious about this one. However if anybody else is, shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to take a look at it for you.

You are correct: it has been repainted. And will need it again.
