Seller said he is putting his 87 black/black 5-speed up on BaT next week. It has 10K less miles and he says its just as sorted as this automatic. So if Hagerty's valuation tool is correct there will be a 20% premium for the manual. I can't imagine it will sell for $45K but who knows. I thought this one would go in the low to mid 20s. But that bodes well for all of us interested in rising 928 values.

Would like to see OBs regularly break through into a strong uptick pattern. Still scatter-gun. Between the black '79 at Monterey, the '78 silver on BaT and the $55k green listed on CL it's all over the place.
That said, I know of a few that are never seen and sold behind closed doors for strong money.
Great deal for someone who can verify the title to be clean without salvage/rebuilt history and without TBF. However, low chance since sounds like the instrument cluster must be busted. '90 S4 with an unknown mileage?
Looks like new paint. Draped leather. Nice looking for price. http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/5750639664.html
This car is listed on eBay with a low $6500 reserve. Here is the auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/112109718496?forcerRptr=true&item=112109718496&viewitem=
DESCRIPTION:
This car was brought to us to part-out. It was just too nice to destroy we decided, so we decided instead to save it. We have effected some needed repairs on it (alternator, battery, some other items) and gotten it to run well. Starts runs and drives as it should. It's FAST too, the engine was replaced 4 years ago (I don't know why but the receipt is in the glove box) with a good low-mileage used motor and they really got a good one. She pulls hard at full throttle.
INTERIOR: Seats show normal wear and are in good shape. The driver's seat bolster is worn right at the edge where the driver gets in and out as usual. All else is really good. There are some small stains in the rear hatch carpet that may come out with a cleaning. One of the issues this car had when we got it was the 250 AMP stereo that was installed - it actually fried the alternator and created such a drain on the electrical system it had to go. We have cut out the big amp and the capacitor and stuff and replaced that alternator and she's all good now. We have left the very fancy radio and speakers still in the car, they just are not connected. Has 8-position electric seats on both driver and passenger that work, cruise control, full boat. This car is loaded.
EXTERIOR: Body is clean all around. No rust underneath. Has original paint and it shows very well. It's a very nice dark gunmetal blue that we do not see often and its quite handsome. A couple small scratches here and there as to be expected with a car of this age. Tires are nice Bridgestone's but have sidewall cracks from when the car was not running and it sat too long (it seems it was parked about 2.5 years before it came to us). Wheels are original and in good shape.
WHAT'S BEEN DONE: Alternator has been replaced, battery has been replaced, engine wiring harness has been replaced, engine has been replaced in 2011, radiator has been replaced, MAF sensor has been replaced, coolant temp sensor has been replaced, fuel filter and throttle position sensor has been replaced along with new intake manifold gaskets. Finally, all hood and hatch shocks have been replaced, and a new spare tire cover installed.
WHAT IT NEEDS: The AC is not working, but the switches in the dash all seem good. The anti-lock brake warning light is on in the dash, and we have checked the wiring for the ABS sensors in each wheel well and they are corroded and need replacement as is common on these cars. This is a good little project for the new owner. Sunroof doesn't work, also common on these cars. Chase it if you want. Windshield wipers do not work. Paint has flaked off the magnesium-alloy intake manifold like they all do, but that does not affect its running at all. You can repaint it as you like.
Lotta other stuff wrong here as well. Wrong Radio, steering wheel, intake tubes, & exhaust, mileage status is 'incorrect', no jump pst sleeve, has a dash cap on pod so that's likely it's cracked, carpet faded to green, can barely make out '03' on COA if so that should be Black Leatherette with tan/black Pascha and this looks to be Black/White pascha. (Pascha clearly has been redone and not to a good standard) Good bones but a bit of a plainer...wonder if it has reserve on it...
Don't forget his is also a 'rare' 5 speed from '79....from an era when when most were 5 speeds...LOL when sellers say this - or 'rare auto' for S4's...although I agree most people do want the 5 speeds...
Overall: can look like a turd when dirty, but very neat color and stunning when in perfect condition and shined up - Wrong radio, but looks to have pretty rare correct exhaust - which is always a 'telltale' to me about how original the rest of a car will be - (especially underneath!) and often the hardest piece to the originality 'puzzle'. Drivers bolster needs work. Very cool car. I say it goes $30k.
I have this exact car with the same miles (CA car with original exhaust, - inland car so all plating underneath mint, etc.)...my exterior needs work to get to this point but interior is as nice if not nicer...
