Just an opinion, but I think BaT is screwing some of you owners by popping so many cars up at one time. 2 sub 20k mile cars at one time?
I agree. I would understand if they would stagger some high mileage/less desirable cars and less provenance with my car and that GTS, but I would not expect them to put 2 collectible grade 928s a few days apart. It's been pretty quiet on my listing since the GTS came up. Hopefully, the buyers will be spread a little bc one is old body style and other is the S4-GTS later reiteration.

We will see!

Thank you all for your support-Hoi

I wonder sometimes if they have multiple people lining up the auctions and those people don't confer with each other about what is going live and when.
Actually, I did request that maybe they don't put another 32V 928 on the same week, but they stated that the scheduler has to do with what's available for auction. Funny how I had moved my car back 1 week, precisely to avoid stepping on another's auction as a courtesy.

Hopefully, Karma will prevail.

The seller is planning to submit it to BAT in a couple of weeks. I'm advising him on how to present it and what things people look for on these cars. He inherited the car a few years ago, so he doesn't have a deep knowledge. He's nice guy and should be good to work with on a deal.
Very nice car! But did I read this right? The water pump/timing belt went 13 years between changes? Glad it worked out.
Tempting....but can't :-(

I think since he couldn't find any records that the TB had been changed by his father since the change 13 years ago, so he did it to be safe, but it may have been changed during that period.

I've gone 12 years (about 25k miles) on a belt and it was in good shape when I took it off. They can last a very long time when the car is stored inside and not driven many miles.

Tempting for me too, but the timing just isn't right.

I submitted a non-P antique car last week to BaT & they weren't interested in it, replying with a generic email saying they "have had too many of that type of car recently, or it didn't fit their selective criteria." It was obviously the second, because there haven't been similar cars there, ever. I placed it on eBay & the current bids well exceeds the reserve. Anyway, I thought it was funny because I know how BaT seems to be THE place to sell a 928 or a Toyota FJ40, and there are often multiple listings of both at any given time.

So I'm not so sure about that excuse. They're accepting what they want to accept & turning away cars. If they have multiple 928s being auctioned, it's because they want them listed.

That looks like a really well priced GT in its current state. IMO, everything is there to bring a few grand more than his asking price without much of a $ outlay..... if cleaned up a bit more and brought back to stock. If I were to advise on getting top dollar for this car, I'd suggest that he find a set of nice RDK-equipped D90's and re-enable the RDK (90's had RDK, right?); sell the Fikse's for a nice chunk of change - looks like they have good front 928 offsets; put the exhaust back to original and sell the aftermarket exhaust components (definitely need to lose the single pipe and get a GT muffler back on); clean the p/s airbag connector with DeOxit and clear the code with a Hammer or a Baum; fix the window; get the factory oil cap back on the filler neck, fix the carpet pull on the d/s door, clean/detail everything including the engine.... etc.
Photos of a stock GT will present so much better in stock condition than it does with aftermarket (albeit nice) personal touches that he currently has on the car.

If he happened to have saved the belt from the last TB job and it looked as good as mine and yours did, he should have it to provide peace of mind that the extended change interval didn't have any adverse effects.
..and get it on BaT when no other 928s are under auction
Agree?

That GTS is going to be out of some people's (my) budget.
Your car is a more attainable way to get a collector grade 928.
Plus it's "Dwayne's Car"....what name has that GTS earned?

Curious minds want to know...what it is?
Do you have a link to your ebay auction?

Might not be that easy. 1990 Airbag Systems are a b!tch. He might have a scrambled Air Bag Controller brain which makes it a dash out exercise.

Have you personally done business with Barrett-Jackson selling a car?

Maybe I missed it being mentioned but that 33k mile '87 on BaT is going to need some attention mechanical wise. One engine shot shows the front knock sensor fragmenting so if it's doing that up front, the sensor is trashed. Only has an hour or so left to go but wanted to mention in case anyone here is watching.

^^^ That car sold for pretty strong money considering a seller without engaging, an obvious need for major maintenance work (top end refresh, fuel lines, etc). Yes it was fairly low miles for an 87. The 5 speed really helped it. I thought is a fair deal at $25K.

Wow, $30k ($31,500 with fees). Maybe the market has risen!
Of course, I am very biased due to my car being auctioned right after this. Hopefully, some of that late bidding enthusiasm will spill over to Friday afternoon!

Wish me luck-Hoi
