^^ that is a sad sight. Clearly exceeded the liquidous state of aluminum and close to that of steel.

I've been looking at the pictures of this beauty all weekend. Nothing like a survivor!! Hard to put a price on that king of originality. I might be crazy but will call Randy today to test the waters.
Feel free to talk me out of it!

I don't think I would talk anyone out of that car unless I was wanting it! I saw it last year at his shop when I went down to pick up my 79 euro Petrol Blue/Cork Pascha that he was selling for a customer. You won't be disappointed and good luck! Randy is a great guy.

I've bought many burned 928's over the years but that's the worst I've seen

That white 79 is spectacular, but it has undergone more restoration than what is in the write up. I'd bet that the motor has been out of the car, as the heat shield at the firewall is a newer replacement from original. Also, the zinc appears to be replated. I know it is a low miles car, but I am quite familiar with low miles early models, and it is just too shiney in the engine bay. also, the gasket material that runs along the top edge of the fenders in the engine bay is gone. I think this car is worth the ask all day long, but I think it is not a true unrestored original either. Close. I guess the question is where is the line drawn between a restoration, a partial restoration, or an unrestored car. I'll start a separate thread on it.

Slightly modified from original shape. You will be the only one to show up in one of these.

Wow that is a mess. But seriously why is this thing up for auction? What is even salvageable? I don't see it. This just needs to be fed to the compactor.

Avoid this one! It's missing the jump post cover.

Yep....and the firefighters that put themselves into that heat are friggin hero's. We suffer from the rages of bushfire here as you'd know and I am always in awe of the men and women who you see in pictures standing near 30-50mtr wall of flames.

Looks like a raised hub steering wheel, too bad it's not a stick
