928 Owners are ".....a secret sect of quietly assured Porsche pragmatists who in near anonymity appreciate the prodigious, easy going prowess of the 928."
Some of these ratty 928s I see on Craigslist would make for a great renegade car to torture some PCA members at the weekend autocrosses.... that is if they allow renegade cars.
I am thinking ebay turbo'd LR4 4.8, 80lb Dekas, and an HPTuners change of the factory PCM.
The car has full leather with stitching on the center console, both arm rests and the glove box cover. The glove box cover is blue and not black and to my eye looks like leather. The dash is obviously vinyl or a cap and black. BUT definitely not leather.
Am I seeing things or does anyone agree with me? Did someone just remove the leather from the dash to leave a vinyl dash in place with zero damage or cracks?
I've always been partial to "genuine naugahyde" over imitation anything else.
Thank you. I certainly hope it sells quick hence my price. I have a 928 in service with a bill that will unfortunately exceed the ask on this car...crazy.
Agreed. That Prussian blue one is the latest example of an "I don't give a ****" attitude about presentation. Pay $6K for a car, flip for $12 without doing anything, and wow, what a biz model. It'll just bring down all of the other good candidates. Sad.
I feel like the buyer of this and the other 86.5 from the other day are in for a world of hurt when they bring into their mechanic for the first time.
I am starting to wonder who is buying the cars. Is it collectors, people storing cars for future investments, or people who just don't know. Guess I should start buying up scrap 928s and flipping them.
On second hand, I would like to be a fly on the wall at the service center.
Holy crap. And the buyer is jumping in and driving 1000 miles. Brendan's comment there was spot on. Imagine how it does if it's cleaned up, and the easy/cheap stuff were remedied prior to the pictures (jump post cover, air box straps, etc)
I'm going to put this car on the market in a few weeks. It's an 81 5sp, no sunroof, competition package
Classic 9 is currently re-doing the front seats seats. The 85mph speedo shows 91k. I just dropped the tank and cleaned it, new filters, changed the oil, plugs and the injectors are about to go to Witch Hunter. Factory Bilsteins and springs, new clutch, it shifts well as all the ball caps seem to be Ok. Still more work to do. It needs work, I would call it rolling project. The paint appears to be original, clear coat is pealing on the roof. Rear tires are new, the fronts are a few years old. ( Yokohama's) I would like to get $7k for it. 5sp no sunroof, no rub strips, decent color combo. somewhat low mileage, new front seats. Pod is cracked in the center and the dash has crack or some sort of burn mark.
'79 Euro with really nice looking pasha. Also sunroof delete with original radio. Ad says the S spoiler and badging were as delivered and that the paint is original. Hefty price at $29K but may be worth it. https://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/d/por...242943038.html
