Lots of work, lots of money, but the only thing that caught my eye was the $1221 for a new OEM tensioner. I understand that many shops will not rebuild nor agree to a PKT, so I guess this is something you'll have to swallow. Perhaps you could push them on this one thing, or pay only cost for it, or something to lessen the pain. I mean, just ask - you might be surprised.

Ditto on the motor mounts, pkt tensioner, ( its proven itself not only in this forum, but through millions of miles of use in many high-mid-low performance, not to mention industrial applications.
I also decided to drive my car home and blew a transmission line. Lucky I was only a quarter of a mile away when it gave. It was a year later after refurbishing everything that I finally got my real first drive.
You might also add to your list, a rebuilt torque tube and clamp from Constatine at Black Sea engineering. Hugh difference in ride along with the new shocks.
Beautiful car, you are going the same route I did, remove and replace everything so that all you do is get in, turn the key, and enjoy God's gift to man.

Well...start this by jumping all over a fellow Rennlister's ebay auctions. I now have a PK32V'r cam tool and a flywheel lock coming. Sweeeeeet...

Anyway...the Hella E-code H4 conversion kit I ordered arrived yesterday. Mmmm...shiny glass.

The Deputy: Yeah, the Red Witch is a little scruffy under her skirts. Its alright, she will be my driver. I expected the wasted motor mounts. Goes right along with the seeping oil pan gasket.
Good to know about the fuel lines. I plan on inspecting them again myself. They will be replaced soon. I have been in contact with Roger about a set of his fuel lines. He wants me to wait and decide if I am going stock or modifying for Porken's S300s chips. Most likely going with the chips...

The shocks at all four corners were replaced with new Boge units some years ago. Springs are original.

I do have the mechanical ability, and had planned on doing all this. However...I have alot going on right now. I had not planned on getting a 928 right now. So, I would really rather not spend forever wrenching on it. For the moment, I am OK with letting the shop take care of the pressing items.
Besides, I will have plenty to do with the MM/OPG job and all that goes with the S300s chips.
Thanks Brian!

Adk46: Yes, alot of work. However, the adage "Pay me now or pay me later" comes to mind. Might as well get it done now, and move onto other things to be done.
I agree about the tensioner. I have been working on them to refurbish the tensioner in there now. I strongly doubt they would install a Pktensioner. But, at the end of the day, if I have to spend $1221 on a tensioner, I will spend $1221 on a tensioner.

marine982: I understand what you mean. They are replacing one transmission line because it is leaking. I will hope the rest hold up. Down the road, I want to rebuild the torque tube with Contantine's Super Bearings, and Super Clamp.
Biggest thing, I have to be careful and manage the WYAIT's. Do this in bite sized chunks. My 1966 Chevrolet C-10 Fleetside shortbed spent years in restoration jail because I took it ALL apart at once. Bad idea.

And...I just realized I should probably replace the distributor caps & rotors, spark plugs, and wires really soon.

Time to call Roger...

I just got word from buccicone that the certified check reached him and is now in the bank. The Red Witch's title will be on the way to me next week.

Oh yeah...

Seth, crossing the I's, dotting the t's. Your pre-drive list looks like the pre-flight checklist on a F-111. No half measures. Looking forward to reading about your progress.
Congrat's.

marine928: Thanks! I am trying to be thorough. I have never owned anything this nice, nor anything even resembling a performance vehicle. I am trying not to screw it up too badly.

Here's a thought- if your shop does replace the belt tensioner, rebuild the old one yourself. Informative, simple, and cheap project. And you can sell it to someone who wants to replace their Porkensioner...

M. Requin: I had thought about that. If I do get stuck with a new tensioner, I told them I wanted the old one back. My intent was to fully disassemble it to see exactly how it works. Next step can be to refurbish it for resale.
Then, 5 years from now during the next TB/WP job, refurb the new tensioner for sale when I put in a PKtensioner.

Petza914: Thank you very much! I do appreciate your opinion.
I very much look forward to meeting you at SITM. The Red Witch and I will be there if I have to drag her with my teeth.

The grin is very hard to remove, if ever. I've had mine since 2000.

Your car looks to be a real prize. :-D

Best wishes for you and it. (Name ?)

Cheers,

Ahhh - Red Witch. Apt. There will be odd occasion when the name will be used in vain. Maybe even lots of "vain". Chuckle.

I like to give new owners a sense of pespercetive:

Owed to The 928

In shadowy recesses
and caves the creature
lurks...

Jaws,
menacing
evil
from where
fleshy morsels and scraps
of past frenzies
dangle
and waft
to
and fro on jagged tips

Fanned by occasional eddys
and currents.

It waits, timelessly,
patiently.
Lying
low,
fat, sleek.

Claws twitch
ready
for the careless flick
of another
feathery morsel of a receipt.

Womenfolk
kept
far away.
And men
talk
in hushed tones
Creeping silently
when near its lair

Made cold with a primal fear
and a dread
of that next encounter
with the folder in the bottom drawer marked "928 Receipts".
