Does one exist? New ones are quite spendy and used are not much better especially since most need to be rebuilt before installing...

Thanks. Of course I didn't search for LSD but every other conceivable word before I posted.
That is almost as pricey as the OEM parts.
Has anyone installed one of them? If so can you provide feedback on its performance?
The price of these new, used, or aftermarket LSDs is making me want to hoard the G28/13 2J transmission that was hiding under my '83 Euro that I pulled the motor out of a few weeks ago. I have an interested buyer but at these replacement prices it may be better to save it for a rainy day for one of my non-LSD cars when one of those starts failing...

I inquired last year and they had not reached the minimum number to do a build.
LSDs are rare and expensive, funny how those things go hand in hand.
Without the LSD manual transmissions seem to be going up in price, automatics not so much. Again Supply and Demand.
I read some comments by Greg what I got out of it was that there are components in the manual that are no longer available and that having an automatic around as insurance may not be a bad idea. Like I said that's what I got out of it.
Best bet to get an LSD is to comb the regular sources, suppliers here, and Ebay.
When you find one hold your nose and pay the price, they really aren't that much. My son is looking for one for a FWD Volvo and they are significantly more.

I understand where this comes from, but it still confuses me.
In a different thread someone made a comment there is not an inexpensive option for big brakes on the 928........and I ask....compared to what?
My friend who builds go-fast Corvette's has customers lining up to spend $3,000+ for big brakes on their cars. Why should such a kit cost less for a 928 just because they are older and of less value?
Considering the low volume of 928's (especially 5-speeds) the available parts are a relative bargain when you look at the big picture.

go stock... what is the point of getting an aftermarket LSD? most all that i have seen have made the 928 very loose ... not enough LSD and you have one wheel spin. too much and the car doesnt turn properly.
99% of all appliations the stock LSD on the 928 is best. maybe cheapest too!

This is where the price of parts is butting heads with the "average" value of the car.

It's difficult to get people to buy decent fuel lines, much less a $2500 limited slip, that very few are going to even know is there....

There you go Hacker! 928intl has got one!
I got one too... a real nice one....
Now, if i can get Greg to rebuild the S4 gear box's 5th gear, another 5speed gear box would be available
maybe that should be part of my bet with Greg... i bring down the S4 gear box. if i dont run 1:28, at willow i give it to him. If i do, he rebuilds it for me.

So if I have a G28/13 2J 5 speed transmission should I keep it as a back-up or sell it? I didn't realize that some of the gears are no longer available... I'd hate to unload it only to have to spend whatever I sell it for and then some to rebuild one of my transmissions if they ever fail.
