Default engine 4.7L 300hp matching pistons 97mm

Hi ,

does anybody know how I can find pistons for my 1981 engine (engine nr 8215357)
I have 2 broken pistons (Mahle 97L20 C031 diameter = 97mm)
I tried several pistons from likely engines (4.7l ) from other years but no luck, they are all too large to fit , often 97,5 mm

Is there a way to see if a donor engine based on engine nr has the correct size of pistons?

The only thing I know is the type of engine should always be M28.11 or M28.12

Here is a pic of the correct piston:

Try 928 International. Do you know the tolerance groups? The codes (0,1,2) are stamped on the pistons and above the cylinders on the blocks.

Most of the 928 pistons are selling for $50 each on eBay. I am just trying to help out a fellow Rennlister that I sold my '83 Euro engine to. I bought the car nonrunning because the fuel system was removed for repairs but I was told that the engine would start with starter fluid so I had no idea that the piston was damaged- I have too much trust in others I guess. Just trying to make things as right as can...

Thanks for the response.

Because they all are for the 5 liter engines. I didn't see any for the 4.7. I don't do engines so I really have no clue. Just trying to find the right one for Hoi...

If Mark strikes out,

I think what you are looking for is: 928 103 086 00 (Piston Mahle 97.00mm tolerance group 0)

Thanks! $500 is a bit steep for one piston. I sold him the entire engine with the bell housing and complete clutch assembly for only $1200 since I knew it needed work... I'm a stand up guy to a point : )

What's wrong with the pistons that you have? Do I see a broken land in the picture?

that a great deal. I was TOTALLY happy for damaged 80 euro heads, good euro 80 cams from that same engine, and the entire intake from the 84 euro for 2k

that buy changed my racing life!! you get an engine on top of that, good for you! (even if its busted! )
