That was my original intent was to fire this thread back up.

It has been getting kind of think around here, I was trying to lighen up mood up a little.

For the record, it's a slow day at work, I have tomorrow off and the weather is awesome and I found an excellent deal that will help both P-cars for the summer. So if anything, I'm a bit slap-happy today!

I need a beer ASAP, oh wait, doesn't it go PBR me ASAP?

I really don't care Lag, what happened happened. If it is impossible, then so be it ... but I will be doing the impossible again this weekend. Not that my almost-350bhp S4 is stock, and not that I ever claimed to have beaten the bike, but it does what I want, and much more.

So................after spending 3 hours reading through all these posts............ How does the callaway turbo and the murf SC compare to nitros. If, from what i have read, it is all about getting more fuel and air to the pistons to increase HP, Then why would a relativly cheap nitros setup, not do the same job?......... Just thought i would post this to add fuel to the fire...Jim

I'm no expert on either but there are two reason why I would never go nitros:

1. Empty Nitros tank = Stock engine
2. I've seen one too many pics of nitros tanks exploding. I do understand that these situations are usually due to idiot owners/installs. Still don't like the idea of my car exploding.

Yes, and in my experience that's most likely to occur right at those times when you most want to use it.

It's definitely a legitimate question, but I have no experience with it. Lots of guys are doing it so it must work.

Hacker and Steve have good points, but I wonder what would be a best case scenario when using it correctly?

Then again, some people would say that that is one of the benefits of nitrous oxide.
Keep your stock smog controls, stock fuel economy, stock injectors, normal drivability, etc...
Only use the NOS when you want to go fast...

I am guessing that it is just as reliable as boosting, probably moreso.
Just the hassle of the bottle fills, and whatever safetly concerns you have
about having a pressurized bottle of compressed gas in your car.

True,

Also some organizations won't let you run with Nitrous, at least not
in Open Road Racing.

My guess is that it is a safety concern.
I'm sure they are happy with people going as fast as they want.
But they want it to be safe.

Even if they did let you run it in something like an open road race, how big of a bottle would you need to last that long? It's definitely more of a drag race type of power adder.

One bottle hooked the the car, and another one hooked up to your helmet.

Not that you need N20 to make you smile at 200mph...

The reason i was asking the question was more to do with the earlier toing and frowing between the callaway and SC boys. Reliability verses street racing useability. If the SC is more about hitting the peak hp for short periods of time, i was just curious why the nitros would not do the same job. Obviously having nitros in the bottle would be help if you are going to be needing the increased hp, But at 8k for a SC kit , or 20k for a stroker, or twenty years of adjustments on a callaway turbo, i think it would be a bit easier to keep a nitros bottle topped up or a spare kept handy, if it was going to give the same sort of results. SO......How do the different systems compare............................Jim
