Start them both at 60mph, and go up to the speeds mentioned, and it seems pretty logical that the car pulls away the faster and further they go, up until the top speed of one or the other becomes a factor.
i don't think this is logical. what is logical is at the end of the 1/4 mile, the bike's trap speed is gonna be way higher than the cars trap speed and pulling away.

Perhaps the coefficient of drag as listed in this article...Description Low Medium High
----------------------------------------
Experimental 0.17 0.21 0.23
Sports 0.27 0.31 0.38
Performance 0.32 0.34 0.38
60's Muscle 0.38 0.44 0.50
Sedan 0.34 0.39 0.50
Motorcycle 0.50 0.90 1.00
Truck 0.60 0.90 1.00
Tractor-Trailer 0.60 0.77 1.20 " Note that motorcycles have horrible numbers just have small frontal areas yet the effect has a big impact on horsepower drain at high speeds. Power spent fighting the wind is NOT accelerating the bike.

What is logical is drag. Drag increases by a factor of 4 when you double your speed. The drag on a bike is much higher than a car - with a rolling start (60mph in this case) the bike is already fighting at lest 2x's the air force than the car is. Off the line from a standing start, wind resistance isn't much of a factor until about 40-50mph. Take away that advantage, you end up with the results in this thread.

Both lift and drag increase with the square of the wind speed.
The reason why drag is much more of a problem for a racing bicyclist than for, say, a runner, is that a fast runner will be moving at speed of some 6 m/s (21 km/h, 13 mph), whereas a racing bicyclist is moving at a speed of some 12 m/s (42 km/h, 26 mph).
A modern car (drag coefficient 0.34) with a 110 kW (150 HP) engine will be using about 4.6 kW (6 HP) of power to overcome air drag and 11 kW (14 HP) for mechanical propulsion (rolling resistance etc.) when it is being driven at a constant 80 km/h (22.2 m/s, 49 mph). When driving at its top speed of 210 km/h (58 m/s, 128 mph) it will be using 82 kW (112 HP) to overcome drag and the remaining 28 kW (38 HP) to overcome rolling resistance etc.

This is comical. liter bike versus a boosted 928. from a 60 punch. The Boosted shark wins. I would imagine there is enough scooter trash and dorks with videos to see this one through.
I also think the bike vs. shark stories are fully made up in the land of oz.
I like being on this board it appears a Boosted shark is king of the road. NA sharks must be a close 2nd.......

I for once would love to see vid of ANY street legal shark do ANY 11 second 1/4mile and not on a MAGICAL G-whiz-tech

Nice stuff. I haven't gone back and read Lag's story but if memory serves they raced from a roll, not a standstill.

i think the bike is usually faster until they near top speed, then the car takes over.

Five guys plus the story teller witnessed the event.

Not if you have been paying attention to what Louie Ott has been up to.

They are known to not be very accurate.

These cars are perfect for boost (4V). Perfect head design, and robust crank and rods.

With a stock car, just stay with the formula 30+ other people have gone with and you will be fine. Make sure the engine is 100% - do a compression test, close all vacuum leaks, new plugs etc... You know, normal stuff.

WTF!

C'mon, you and some others are actually saying that the thread-starter and the witnesses are all liars??

And here you are calling bull**** on posted GTech results too:
I for once would love to see vid of ANY street legal shark do ANY 11 second 1/4mile and not on a MAGICAL G-whiz-tech
Attempting to 'baffle them with bull****' will not work here. I guess you did not read this:

https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...5&postcount=12

So, is Tony a liar too?

As someone else stated, it appears it's all about sour-grapes. Next time you get the urge, I would suggest to do a little research first, so that maybe you won't make such a big fool of yourself.

I've seen bikes racing cars on the Autobahn and watched the bikes getting their *** kicked... a drag race is a different story, likely.
