Gregg I thought your proposition was 2 part, $ 5 G if the engine lives through the 4 practice sessions.

Then another $5 G and 2 sets of tires if Mark K can beat Mark A's time. At least that was my understanding.

One 5K is just a "reward", if he can beat Mark Anderson's time, after each of them get 2 30 minute practice sessions each. Kibort can learn the track and Anderson can learn the car. They will both run on new tires for the entire time....each one getting their own set.

The 5K bet is that the engine will not survive the practice and timed runs. Kibort has to "match" that bet.

So:

If Kibort beats Mark Anderson in timed runs, after the two hours of practice at Willow (one hour each), KIbort goes home with 10K and 2 sets of almost new tires. (Note that in order to beat Mark Anderson, the engine has to be running.)

If Kibort looses to Mark Anderson and the engine is still in one piece, he wins the 5K bet and goes home with the 5K. I keep the tires.

If Kibort's engine doesn't survive the two hours of running and timed runs....he obviously doesn't beat Mark Anderson in timed runs (there are none) and he owes me 5K. I keep the tires.

Since Kibort is so convinced he can outdrive Mark Anderson and is so convinced that Amsoil, alone, will keep this engine together, he should think that there is absolutely no downside.

Hey Kibort, I think if you actually accept this challenge (this time) you should man up and put the names of everyone who paid for your engine on the car like you said you would back many years ago.

For those Fantasy Racing Leaguers that need data for oddsmaking purposes, here's the over-and-under on Anderson-V-Kibort, 2001-2004.

Just to be fair in this comparison (2001 to 2004).... I believe Mark A was running a "stock" 6.5 liter 928..and Mark K had the original Holbert engine (5.0) in his 928???

Yep, 410 rwhp vs. 320-ish in the Holbert car in 2001, , then ~500 rwhp vs. 320ish in the Holbert car in '03/'04.

Not a fair comparison (though spec DOT's will negate a lot of the hp advantage), but then MK always tweeting about being faster than MA, on one day in the rain when MA was on slicks, isn't a fair comparison either.

All of which is to say that apples to oranges comparisons are worthless, and talk is cheap, especially if you repeat it enough times in public.

Maybe a real apples to apples comparison would save us all a lot of typing and reading?

Yes..... stock ..... he had 520rwhp, motons, and larger front tires (an they were new) splitter, huge wing, suspension pick up changes, 2" wider foot print, etc.

I had a stock 320rwhp engine. (that's 200less rear wheel hp and 250less flywheel hp for those mathematicians out there) and no mods to anything on the car or engine. just aftermarket shocks and springs, and rims and tires. engine just had a set of headers.

with the 6.4 liter upgrade a few years later, my times were 1:36, still with 150 less hp on DOTs.

also as a note........... the last race, Qual I had one lap, before my timing belt skipped 3 teeth. in the race, I got Hit badly in turn 11 first lap, and had a huge alignment issue in the rear for the entire race where I got back all my spots, but 1. (video of this on youtube)

also, the car in the first couple of years of WCGT was my old '84 928 with a 5 liter part euro motor with 290rwph.

Could we start a new Kibort vs the world thread somewhere else ? I'm much more interested in the original theme of this thread... and the continuing story of what Rob is doing.

DOTS negating a lot of the HP advantage?? WHAT? are you kidding me? there is nothing lost in the HP race in using those tires. DOT slicks put the power down out of turns with NO real issues of wheel spin. toyo RA1s are pretty darn good shaved on a warm day. 520hhp vs 320hp on RA1s is a monster difference of 200hp
just getting the stroker and driving it exactly the same with only 50hp , on the same DOT tires, gave me 1.5-2.5 seconds at all the tracks.

the rain race was even. I didn't have the power, and mark couldn't put it down. both of us were on baled no grooved tires. mine were bald hoosiers and his were slicks. we had a fun race together, and I came out ahead. doesn't matter who won or lost in my book. my point to ALL of this, is that it shows im in the ball park of his driving, so when I claim to be able to punish the 928 in a race, and have it survive, its not like im baby'iing the car or anything. again, its only to show the car can survive high-g loads and not blow motors.

OK...Greg... should plan this around Sharktoberfest...so we can have lots of folks attend...and give Mark and Mark time to prepare ...
Gonna be a good one...no more excuses after this race (although I'm sure there still will be) LOL...

Good luck to both racers
