I'm with linderpat, I think its a well written article that reflects the reality of early 928 ownership, and not a critique of the car itself. In fact, I thought all the comments about 928's were flattering, its the previous owners that were portrayed in a less than flattering light. I very much enjoyed the article, as its very reminiscent of the journey my wife and I are taking with our '82.

Pablo, glad to see you are on here, please keep us up to date on your project.

Well said Roger, I don't have the knowledge on these old girls like you do...but one hell of a fast learner. Anyway do you know when I discovered the secret to these OBs? When I was 11 years old, in 1983, and began devouring everything Porsche since then...I've waited 30 years for this very car.!

Stay tuned...

Thanks Bro!

Feel free to contact me anytime. Really busy with projects, so much easier to reach via email or phone (on my 928 Classics website). Let me know how I may help.

Welcome aboard Pablo. Read the FAQ sticky at the top. I see you already found Dave Anderson's write-ups for the early sharks - good stuff in there. Read Jim's thread too (Jadz928) cited above - his will give a great historical perspective. Also, source everything you need from the big 3 vendors here - (even if some of them are literary critics). They will give you the best prices and the best service in almost all cases, plus they know the 928 better than any other vendors. And Rennlist is, of all the boards, the most comprehensive and generally accurate for help and direction. There is a deep well of knowledge here not matched on the other boards. I'll let James solicit for the 928 OC.
+1 on everything. If I had more time to type, I couldn't have wrote it any better.

Ya know.... 928's are "cult cars", to share the words of 928 guru Jim Bailey. Someone with the passion but wanting more has found a car he's enthusiastic about, and is publicly documenting the project. This is different from Jim's early press cars project only by the VIN numbers. Consider that, as these projects and their documentation proliferate, the number of cult followers will grow as appreciation for the orphaned 928 spreads.

Consider also that a 'cult' is separated from a 'religion' only by the number of members and supporters. Kinda like Christian religions, ultimately all the 'cults' and 'lunatic fringe' groups figure out that there's more commonality than difference. Welcome all converts! And don't dis' a member of another religion who decides to sip our Kool-Aid!

I enjoyed the article and look forward to watching the progress. The longer I am involved with this car the more intrigued I get with the 928- such a hell of a car for so little, then you dump money into it like crazy. As long as you go into it with your eyes and wallet open it's a great project for a car nut. Thanks for bringing some press!

fsharp9 and chalkboss, thanks for the love. It'll be a long road but what I hope to do is bring other Porschephiles that may have never considered a 928 some "new-to-the-scene-guy" knowledge through my writing.

I can't remember the last time I saw a 928 article in Pano or Excellence. By not writing more stories about them and those of you who keep them alive, it sort of takes these cars out of focus from enthusiasts who may really be interested in owning one but don't know much them.

Press is key here. The glossies, fantastic as they are, need to know more of what's going on in the 928 scene. With the support found in this forum and supply of 928s ready to be rescued, it has never been a better time to bring these old girls out into the public.

I give props to you guys who have lived and breathed these machines for far longer than me; the enthusiam and camaraderie you give can be seriously addictive and I want to help spread it around.

I've read the first installment and am patiently waiting for the next article. Everyone here can relate to some degree... while a good number can relate ENTIRELY These cars get under your skin and the more you wrench on 'em the more you want to wrench on 'em... its a sickness really The only thing more addictive is DRIVING them Welcome to the DEEP END of the shark tank!

Pablo..

Will be looking for updates on the car soon. Always good to see coverage of the early cars. I love the non spoiler cars too. My son has a 1980 he and I have been working on. Other than it being an auto the car has come together well. Hope your does the same for you. His looked exactly like yours with different wheels at the beginning. Here are pics of Marvin when he first brought him home.

It's really nice to hear what your doing Dean, I think the younger generations need to see and experience what these cars in particular are all about. Thanks for the support.

Would love to see more images of your son's car in it's current state...

Thanks Joel, they sure are. Can't wait to sort her out and experience all of the good things I keep hearing about her performance when I finally take her out for a drive...
