BTW, can we fix the topic title? It should be Patina, not Petina.

I am with RKD and did not enjoy the article at all and it came over as very condescending. Not at all positive to the 928. Many of us here are already restoring early OB's and way ahead of the curve. As always the so called Porsche purists looking down on the 928 when it should be the other way round.
Just my 5 cents worth 8>)

Pablo,
Great start to a great story, for sure!

You will find many of us out here are going thru (or have gone thru) a similar experience.

Keep connected out here, and you will learn alot to help make you experience more enjoyable and less costly.

Here's one of my "driver restorations", similar to your's (esp. the fuel system):

I believe petina is correct as he will be using PET quite a bit looking up parts. Good luck on the car, it will take time but is doable just do not get in a hurry and expect frustration at times.

Aw come on Roger, be nice...after all I bought some parts from you a while back.

The intent wasn't to be condescending at all, I am merely pointing out the obvious. I don't think 928s get enough exposure in publications and that's something I want to change. Sure I love aircooled 911s, but I also have a 944S that I love and now this 928 that I'm nuts about.

I'm far from a purist you see, I love all Porsches, each model played a critical role in the company's history and I respect that. Besides, I'll be giving you a call soon with some parts that I need...I was very impressed with you and your business. Rock on my friend.

Jim, I love what your doing. You've inspired me to pursue this endeavour.

Thanks to all for your support...

Sorry Rog - got to disagree with you on this one. I read the article last night when I got it, and reading it cold gave me a warm feeling - I thought it was good and positive about the 928. Anyway, these things are subjective.
Welcome aboard Pablo. Read the FAQ sticky at the top. I see you already found Dave Anderson's write-ups for the early sharks - good stuff in there. Read Jim's thread too (Jadz928) cited above - his will give a great historical perspective. Also, source everything you need from the big 3 vendors here - (even if some of them are literary critics). They will give you the best prices and the best service in almost all cases, plus they know the 928 better than any other vendors. And Rennlist is, of all the boards, the most comprehensive and generally accurate for help and direction. There is a deep well of knowledge here not matched on the other boards. I'll let James solicit for the 928 OC.

Good luck Pablo,

You're the kind of 928 Owner the older models need to find.

I can tell you will be successful with it. Looks like a nice example to me.

Best regards,

Matt

Pablo-

Great read so far and hopefully you'll continue the journey and documentation. There aren't enough 'happy endings' for folks who find a well-used example and bring it back even close to its original condition. You have a project, and hopefully the ambition and time needed to complete. The cars are an absolute joy to drive and own. Welcome to the group!
