How about just a simple H pipe to connect the two banks?

Thanks for the idea Imre. We may try to fab up some type of crossover. We are limited to parts on hand and I sold the only H pipe I have ever owned. Truthfully, that pc would have the same drawback as the X pipe that we have. The headers come back so far while the H and X pipe were designed to be used with the stock manifolds and rest in place of the factory catalytic convertor. We have the x pipe that we can cut and weld if needed but the width of the tunnel will limit what we can do. We would potentially be destroying a pc of art It will be a fun Saturday either way. The car should be driven either today or tomorrow sans mufflers.

We do make a Header-Y for the 16v headers that will do the connection for you.

If that helps.

I love that pc Carl and would be glad to have it. We are limited to the materials on hand for budgetary reasons. I am so upside down on this car it is just silly. I still have final paint to pay for and then I am done. lol, for now that is.

Wanna trade it for an original, first generation, Ott X-pipe??

The S4 has the sport seats so is a comfortable ride!! I do have the pod out of it but drive it around with the instrument cluster sitting in the dash framework!

We have run into a few more setbacks. To console myself I broke down and bought this http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/headerypipe.php

It will not do anything for the fueling but it will make the exhaust fabrication a whole lot easier.

The car is fine. No changes from the video below.
Some unrelated issues have prevented the car from being worked on.

No drama, no ..........just time I would rather be driving.

I understand, not trying to pry. Should have offered help if I could.

That Y-pipe looks pretty sweet!

Thanks Seth- It looks like we might be back on track.

Here is a picture of the exhaust set up we plan to use. The one on the left is from my son's long gone 85. I am using it as a rough template for ordering parts. On the right is 928 Motorsport Y pipe- two 3" 45 degree bends and not pictured is 48" of straight 3" pipe if needed.

You may be able to see the one on the left had a homemade RMB with duals into a 3" exit pipe. The oval cover is SS that has been painted black. I am using a chemical stripper and it is beautiful under that paint. I will be using that final 3" and oval as my exit pipe. It even has the hanger still on it!!

I hope to find a hobbiest welder that can cut me some slack. Any money that is spent on welding must come out of the paint money.
