I sat here the last couple of hours reading all 466 post. I tell you what it was like reading a book with all the ups and downs and love to hate. And a few post ago "a year about" you were about to give up and sell almost broke my heart. And then seeing a video of it running almost made me cry tears of joy for you. AWESOME thread!!!! congrats...

Thanks for the support men. This online community is what makes this even more rewarding. Other wise it is just "stuff". I have spent most of the weekend cleaning glass. After years of sitting around in shops or out in parking lots or in the body shop the glass was a bit "filmy".
The passenger seat was removed a while back to fix an issue that I created by being in a hurry to finish when I recovered. It is beautiful and ready to be put back in. I may wait until I have fixed some of the electrical gremlins before re installing.

Two years ago at Christmas I was given a full time dash cam. It is still in the box because I was saving it for the 79. Hopefully I can install soon.

Brian, always great to hear about "impossible" challenges being surmounted. When do some of the Atlanta area Rennlisters get to see it?

Thanks.
I saw Richard at the new shop on Friday. He spoke of having a get together in late March early April. I will make every effort to be there.

Brian,

Did I miss a post but what was done to turn the page with the 79? Was it all tune related?

Yes. The entire fueling system came from the old engine in the 79. It was in sad "original" condition.
The fuel distributor and the WUR we're rebuilt. All soft lines replaced. All 8 fuel injectors were replaced. Lots of other things that are over my head involving flaps and vacuum and such.

BTW. I was told that all of that should be done 18 months ago but I was too cheap and impatient to allow it to happen.

Faced a similar dilemma, learned a lot from the process. Thought I had low compression when in reality, cylinders were being fuel starved causing ring seating issues. Once sorted, the suspect cylinder has returned to full compression after a few hundred miles.

Glad to see the car back on the road!!

Thanks Guy. You're right in that they sound like eerily similar situations. Out of the old injectors only three were worth saving.
