We are not sure what this week has in store for us but we do have a full day of work on the car scheduled for Monday and I will be leaving Friday for SITM, with or without the car.

are you going to add an oil fill block off plate? Greg Brown makes them Roger sells them.
Now is the time to put it on.

Lots of work done today. I am confident that if the car can be completed without cutting any corners that Bill is the man for the job. We have made a few decisions and barring any unforeseen circumstances the car could be ready for Friday.
I am equally confident that if the car is not ready for the trip then Bill will not release the car to me. That is a good thing and I am at peace either way.

Well we made the decision to call it today. I will not be bringing the 79 to SITM 2016. Hopefully we saved Bill from two all nighters trying to "not let me down". Richard and Bill @ Garage 928 are both top notch and want to make sure the job has been done right and some miles put on the car to work out any kinks before any trips are taken.

Ouch...I understand. Hang in there, and, there is always next year.
Glad you will have a shark to drive. Looking forward to seeing you there!

We bought something like this to merge the headers with the x pipe. I don't remember the exact dimensions but the step down pipe has a larger diameter on one end than the other. The headers set alot farther from the engine than the traditional exhaust manifold (of course), so to follow your theory it matters less which we decide?
The only concern with the X pipe and the duals is that we don't yet know if the distance from the left side and right side header will line up with the X pipe. If it all lines up then we have no worries because we have the duals and resonator just waiting to hook up. If we have to cut or significantly bend the x pipe to allow it to connect to the headers then we will have to go another route. I hate to ruin a piece of art.
We will not be using the x pipe on this build. The headers sit back too far to bolt then up. I am sure that someone somewhere has made it work but we don't want to spend the time and fab effort for unknown or questionable gains. We will run the dual pipe into a single gt resonator then out a RMB. If it is too loud we will add something between the headers and the gt resonator .
