after repairing the fuel lines underneath, decided to replace the fuel accumulator....$$$ tight at the moment, so got a used one (thanks Brian..AKA: medipedicman)....cleaned it, primered it, painted it, and installed it. It is a different configuration than mine, so the vent line stays disconnected, for now....

Ron, some good pictures all around / under the car with a moderately good camera might be helpful for us playing at home.
The good and the bad. This car might abnormal parts infusion, ie, stuff guys might have collecting dust that aren't typical failure parts. We've got a newer body up here in Indiana that has a 75% likelihood of being discarded, 25% chance of LeMons. Neighbor has a plasma torch kit. Get the picture?

yup! Thanks...I'll get 360 pics out soon...I am posting from older stuff, as I try to get everyone up to where I'm at. I am not too far ahead of my posts....should be caught up soon....then it will be slow going until all this house stuff is settled....

BTW...chris, body seems pretty good....frame has small dent in it, in the rear, looks like a bottom out, but not bad....still straight....only rust through is passenger floorboard-front (so far, but I believe that's it....)...if the plasma could cut out halfway up the firewall, to under the seat...that might suit me...lol...I am quite far away from that stage tho'. Drivers door is damaged, but Picked up a couple of doors in Florida, near my dads house....got them ultra cheap...just got to transfer my guts....well, gotta go pick them up first....

Ron, i have an 81 (black) with a very nice body if you're in need in the future, paint is rough/dull. it's complete minus interior, intake, exhaust, few other pieces. The rest of the motor/body is complete. i actually have an offer for the whole car, but the guy can't do anything until spring.

Thank you so much...perhaps by spring, I'll have a better idea of where I am at...I got the drivers seat to slide, although it rolls rough...I soaked it for days with PB, Aerokroil, and WD...

from what I gathered it looks like water ran down the cracked windshield, behind the dash, and on to the floorboards.....the car was closed up, so several years of carolina winters and summers, combined with soaked carpet caused a sauna effect, and kept the vehicle humid inside....the center
console is ok, heavy rust on passenger floor, seat sliders...although the bottom of the dead-pedal and side cover near emergency brake were both eaten away, drivers floor seems to be pretty solid still....rear floorboards seem ok, but I bet I will have to cut out the seats....not looking forward to that...I plan on getting the fuel system together in the next few weeks, then try to get her to run....mechanicals first.....the brakes work ( my daughter tested them while I pulled the car with my truck...lol), and the pads are new, but very rusty....who knows what I'll find wrong.....as long as it's not motor / gearbox / clutch, everything else is easy.....

Just found this pic....had just brought her home...She was supposed to be in the big bay, but it is getting full with furniture and other belongings, as I start moving our things little by little from the temporary storage....of course, the house is not done yet, so this is temporary part deux!

Anyway...I miss the clean shop...haha (well, not sooo clean, it was just built, and the yard is still a typical construction site mudhole....so, dirt!)

Thanks all...no probs...as I said, I am tied up working on the house...did not accomplish as much as I had hoped this weekend, but am going to try to wrap up this week, in the evenings, so I can play with the 928 some this weekend..we'll see...

My main problem right now is that the new fuel strainer will not screw into the brass boss in the tank...the old strainer (well, just the hub and nipple is all thats left), screws in all the way to the gasket, by hand...the new only 1-turn in, by hand or slight wrench pressure. I have already run a thread cleaner / file on it, but still a no go....I think perhaps I got a bad one....need to order another to continue.

Mike, thanks for the offer....you are welcome anytime....I'll shout out the next full day I have planned...I currently live about 10 mins away from the new place / construction site so if you just want to drop in and take a looksie, let me know!

Got a wedding to go to Saturday, so won't get much time to play then either...dang...

Jim, once I get this fuel system in, who knows what I'll need..lol...

Porsche made a running change in '78 for the fuel strainer. From 36mm to 37mm. Appears you are trying to fit the latter.

I believe the early is NLA. I'm looking for an early good used one, and am running sans strainer (with a very well cleaned fuel tank).

Having done a couple of similar 928s, I think this will be a great project for you. Currently I am holding myself back from buying a $300 car that is in somewhat similar condition, which would be my 3rd total project OB. If I didn't have a 944S2 and a 928S4 on stands I would do it today. Please feel free to hit us up for help and even parts.

Karl...do it! lol

DC...thanks....I'll update when I can!

Ron,

You need to get tight with Jim and his 928 Classics business! He knows these super early OB's better than anyone! I call him OB-wan Jim-O'be or conversely OB-Yoda as I have not met ANYONE who knows them better than he does, thus making him the Jedi Master of OB's! My #295 will be in his shop VERY SOON if all goes well for Kevin and his mini paint resto he has going for me up in PA!!! COME ON KEVIN!
