Thanks James...I have been in contact with Jim almost since I bought the car...just have not gotten to that "really in deep, need help" stage just yet...but it's coming....met Kevin at SITM...great guy, and quite helpful.
Chuck, thanks.....I wanted to paint her white, but Jim informed me that she is an early car, and the original silver would be best...
He and Kevin also talked me out of the big honkin' spoiler I envisioned....lol...here I am planing body and enhancements, and don't even know if she'll run yet....

So, had a visit today from Dave Davis (Outbackgeorgia)...great to see you again....he sidetracked me from the house work, and inspired me to play with the car a little bit....I wiggled the new fuel strainer a little, and the "basket" popped right out of the hub...there is a ridge on the strainer basket, and a groove on the hub...snapped right into my old purolator hub! yay! screwed the strainer into the boss and the tank....then had to pack up and leave...got dark, and I don't have power at the shop yet...

hi all!
Have not posted in a while, between working and FINALLY moving into the new house, I have been worn out...have not really even touched the 928, which really frustrates me, as I planned on having her running by the end of last summer...
The gas tank is ready to put back in, but I got power in the shop now, so pretty proud of that accomplishment...only have (1) light, and (1) quad outlet, so I need to do more wiring....

Well, took a little time to play...finally! Got the gas tank back in, all hoses connected, new pumps in, etc....put fuel, about 3 gal, 1/2 can of sea-foam, and let her sit, looking for leaks. Ok. Will run pumps to pressurize system and leak check after the below issue is sorted:
Want to change the oil and filter before her first "fuel fed" start attempt in 20 years...remember, I have already put some marvel mystery oil in each plug hole and rotated it by hand, as well as cranked her over with the starter.
PROBLEM: Can't get the oil drain plug loose. I put an 18" breaker bar, and leaned on it, and no joy....don't really want to heat with a MAP torch, but will if I must.....soaked it in PB, and gave up for the day....

hit a road block...unable to remove the oil drain plug, oil filter, or get the fuel pumps to run...I am going to focus on one thing at a time (hard for me to do, since I have OCD)...and do nothing to the car except solve the oil issues...then on to the other...
Well, rounded the head of the plug. Heated the bolt up with the torch, allowed it to cool slightly, put vise grip pliers on it, and all it does is crumble little pieces of the bolt head right off....grrrr,
Couldn't get the oil filter to come off either....couldn't get the fuel pumps to run either! WTF...I have power at the fuse, but nothing at relay. Tried a spare relay, no joy...I'll make a jumper and try that tomorrow, perhaps..I stayed home sick from work today, so I am not 100%...decided to quit for tonight and get some rest.
Got to figure out how to get that plug out!!!!
Tried the pipe wrench..., it rounded off while using a socket and breaker bar....6-point impact socket....I must be stronger than I thought. I will follow fixers instructions...and cross my fingers....after my bolt remover gets here...
I TOLD the car I was trying to help her, but it seems that she is still in a COMA!!!
I have gotten my hands on a nice 14" pipe wrench from a friend, and a chain oil filter wrench. (Vise grips just ate pieces off the bolt head as I turned it...my guess is it is starting to "cone" shape. New drain plug is on order...bolt extractor set should be here by tomorrow...I have removed and drilled out a lot of bolts over the years, but never had one just crumble like this...I hope it is not aluminum, surely not....Ill take a pic or 2 of it tonight...

(sorry for the big pics...I am schlepping at work, and don't want to take the time to re-size)
I talk to her daily, even if I cant work on it, I rub her fender and tell her it will all be ok...have not cursed her yet...but I almost lost it yesterday...lol..
Well, I got the oil filter off....used a chain wrench...all it would do is crush when I went to loosen, so I tightened it a bit, it moved a little, then I went the other way...it collapsed some, and started leaking, but it finally broke free...oil was dirty, but not that bad....

Right now, what I do have...oxy acetylene torch, oil suction pump, eZ outs, Drill-outs, Bolt extractors (supposed to be there when I get home)...
So..first..going to grind flats onto the bolt...then going to suck out all the oil (actually oil first)...then heat bolt, and flash cool with a wet rag or liquid refrigerant, (probably rag)...then whack it a few times, then heat it / cool again, then whack it, repeat, then install bolt extractor, and use impact....if that don't get it, then I will consider some other options...geez....well, I am having fun anyway....

News flash! I GOT THE SOMONOBEECH OUT!!!!
I whacked it about a dozen times on the shoulder tried the bolt extractor, and it just spun, eating more of the bolt head....dammit. I whacked on it some more, then got my oil pump out and started to set it up to suck the oil from the tube I was about to remove from the front of the pan, then realized all my brass fittings are still in the storage shed at my old house, and there was no way I was going to fab something to go from a 1/2" flare down to 1/4" to connect my tubing to. So....I whipped out the Oxy-Acetylene torch, cranked the heat up, and fried that bastard! Then I let it cool...whacked the remaining nub of the bolt, and heated again...repeating (3) times. Then I hammered on the smaller size screw extractor, snapped on the ratchet (14" long 1/2" drive), and she screwed right out! Only took an hour and 1/2....geez...

Well, what a long day, but I got her to run!!!
First cranks, nothing...just turn over, with no sign of life. Removed all the lines feeding the fuel injectors, sprayed B-12 Chemtool into each injector, and put the lines back on.
Still no joy....sprayed a little chemtool into the intake, and she sputtered, then nothing again...killed the battery. Put back on charger and worked on other things...
After charge tried again...and....

So, I kept screwing around, I still think my injectors are bad...
I stuffed a hose into the air paddle on the CIS, and kept cranking...she would not start but after I quit cranking, I got all kinds of weird sounds...like pressure bleeding through a valve....got me thinking that perhaps the CIS was gummed up, and holding the paddle down is letting fuel pressure push through the muck.....

So after getting it started...I found that only (1) of my chinese discount fuel pumps was working..the pump at my tank just hums.....made a by-pass for it so I could keep testing...
Also ordered the Mercedes injectors to go in it...they have yet to arrive (2-14-2013)
