Official #30 Revival / Rescue Thread

So, after the year I had, making some changes.....trying to rebuild my confidence, and improve my health....just started a nightly commitment to go to the gym....night 2, and I certainly feel my age.....but I started eating better in December, , so far, the first month, I have loSt app 16#. More time taken away from #30, but I need it....
Still need to repack and reboot passenger CV axle
Drivers CV axle
Replace parking brake pads
Replace rear rotors
Plug leaking port on accumulator
Get rid of what's left of windshield
Then I can try her on a road test,

Thought I'd post an update...project has stalled, while I try to finish our bonus room above the garage, for my oldest.....
I have been gathering parts tho.
Bought a refurbed cv axle, so I only need to rebuild 1....(yes, it's still soaking in the parts washer...I think)...
I bought (4) oil filters on eBay, for 14$ total....
Bought the original fuel accumulator, the big $$$ one...got a killer deal on it, and also bought the one with the screw instead of the nipple on bottom, at a price I could not refuse.....bought a cheap steering wheel cover at big lots....it was a bitch to put on, but actually looks pretty good....
So....gotta rebuild cv axle
Install it
Remove the other one
Install the one I bought
Install a fuel accumulator
Replace the parking brake shoes
Remount the brake calipers (I have all 4 off)
Change the oil (again)
Remove the broken windshield
Give her a quick road test
Then.....if all is well....get another windshield....and start replacing all the patched fuel lines with custom ones from Len (which I have not bought yet)....once that is done I will feel much better about the fuel system.....
I'm so close, but soooo far away......

Ron, if you have had anything like the weather we have had in ATL, you are lucky to get anything done. I don't work so well in the cold.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys. Hard to get anything done with everything else going on.
Harvey, I want to drive it...but was thinking about towing, if she's drivable, just to be on the safe side. Was thinking about leaving her home if not drivable....

Been buried....I check the forum every night....but can't seem to get to posting......I am going to sneak in some 928 time this weekend...if anything, I'd like to try to finish the cv axle I started a few months ago...if the purple power cleaner has not dissolved it...shouldn't take more than a couple hours to reassemble, reboot and re grease....
Gotta get the spare room done tho'
Jehu....reply sent....

Thank you! I was told today that this thread is inspiring some others to tackle saving a neglected Porsche, makes me feel special..lol.
Updates have been slow, as not too much has been done. I played with the fuel distributor some more, as she was once again idling way too rich.....I know this thing needs rebuilding, but it's kinda hard to pull the distributor off, when as soon as she warms up, she runs so very good. Perhaps all it needs to clear up is a little road time.....
I have spent most of the winter gathering parts, as it has been way too cold out in the shop (yes, I have heaters, but it's been too damn cold to install and wire them!)
Good news is, I have a butt load of parts! Parking brake shoes need to go on, calipers and rotors need to be remounted, cv axles need reinstalled, hmmm, what else.....oh, fuel accumulator needs installing, that might be all that is standing between me and testing this ol gal on the street....

Your thread is one of the reasons I keep putting money in my 81.
It was neglected and allowed to bake in the Los Angeles sun gaining a protective coating of smog goo.
I'm a little ahead of you in the fact that I have it as a rolling project daily driver... along with its inherent problems.
Your thread is what keeps a few of us going on our projects and I hope to see some more pictures of the progress you are making when spring rolls around .
