If you like what's popular you like 911's. Neither the cars I drive nor I, have ever been very popular. I like it that way. I love ridicule, receive a fair amount of it. I expect more of it relative to my cars. Makes things more interesting.

I think I met "Mr. Porsche's" brother a couple weeks ago. He owned a 2005 911 and just would not stop putting down the 928. "Uses too much gas", "too many electrical problems", "high maintenance", etc. Told him of the virtues: 5.4L engine, 0-to-100 kph in ~5 seconds, top end near 300 kph and it was a 20-year old daily driver, no maintenance other than preventive... just wouldn't hear any of it. Totally unlike any 911 owner I've met at PCA event in the states.

Ask him how much it costs to retrofit (parts AND labor) to prevent IMS failure--oh same as a good used 928 engine (not GTS) engine...of course we have TBF but...

i once had a costumer with a 930 turbo he used to call me and invite me to some get togethers, and fun rides on sunday mornings.
And then one day he wanted to race me (at the time my s3 was running on porken chips xpipe set up)
And the race was on from 20 mph to 140 mph, my shark was ahead about a car length the whole time.
And then the next time he got together front of all his friends he was like hey everybody his car (mine) is really fast.
So me as the nice and humble guy that i am i was like no man my shark aint that fast ,but u cant really expect to beat me with that moddified bettle that u call a car.
Weird i never heard from him since
PS sorry about the mistakes in writing english

Was that not a 951 also blasting towards the front of the pack in that video? Another superb car from Porsche, albeit the "poor man's Porsche".
-Proud owner of a 1984 928S and a 1987 944 Turbo. :-)

Personally I think both groups above are missing out. I own both a 911 and a 928 and I feel blessed to be able to experience and love both. They are very different from each other and each has unique characteristics that need to be experienced to appreciate it. Both are truly fantastic Porsche cars.
I must say though the other day I was surprised when a 911 driver gave me a "flash". I did not expect it, but i was pleasantly surprised.[/QUOTE]
Couldn't have said it better.

I had a Cayenne (yes Cayenne) smile at me. I also had an AMG CLK55 in hot pursuit until he exited. Also had a few folks turn and smile when they realized what they were seeing!
