I won't install anything but Laso or Porsche. The Hamburg Technic, while sounding nice and German, is a Chinese knockoff with a rather high failure rate.

+1 on the Laso pump. Be sure and get the model with the plastic impeller.

Laso it is then. Cheers Chaps!
I've seen reconditioned pumps, but to my mind, that seems like a bad idea- am I correct to think that?

Ok, what do you make of this?
Pulled all fuses and put in new ones where they looked a bit iffy and made sure to have correct ones in correct places, cleaned it all up with electric contact spray, now drivers side window doesn't work!
It worked yesterday, no sign of a failing motor, relay is bloody noisy, but surely a dodgy relay wouldn't stop only one window working?

Hard to tell. If the panel has been molested even harder to tell. Would need a wiring diagram to trace that circuit. What you did is probably good in the long run, but some connectors get bent. Might want to look at this too:

Put the old fuse back and see what happens. You can have a bad (new) fuse.

The window controller has a mind of it's own. Each circuit on the window controller affects the other circuits. The roof switch and both window switches have two positions each. Try running the roof all the way back, then part way forward, then part way back. Then try running the pax side window all the way down, then part way up, then all the way up. See if any of the switches may be stuck in the down position, which can inhibit operation of other circuits.

It's a crappy design, and fraught with goofy restrictions. The fuse has likely nothing to do with one window not working, if the other window and the roof will move, the controller is getting power. You may have to remove the negative terminal of the batt to reset it as well. I've found it is also sensitive to operating voltage so if you are running the windows with the engine off, the lower voltage can affect operation. Try it with the engine running.

<edit; Yes, a dodgy relay will cause trouble with one window. If it's chattering, that is a sign that the relay, or socket, or voltage is faulty. Try with the engine running first, and then test the switches.>

Thanks, the roof is out of the running- motor doesn't work, hasn't for as long as we've had the car,

Aha, o/h has just confirmed that he removed and did not replace the sun roof fuse as didn't see the point as not in use, could we have a likely cause?

i'm going to eat a million maltesers and then go to town on the sonofabitch window relay with my soldering iron.
If i can reliably solder $300 pickups into an $1600 guitar, I can solder a goddamned $80 relay!

Um - diagnose first, solder later?

And why are you eating a million small furry dogs from Malta?

I'm a bit solder-happy! can't do it now anyway, coming up to midnight here.
Do you have maltesers in USA?
